Introduction
1. The National Forensic Sciences University with the status of an Institution of National Importance is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensics and allied Sciences. It was established by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32 of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world. With the elevation of University as National University and an Institution of National Importance, the admission policy has been revised and it will be applicable from the academic session 2021.
Academic Programs
2. NFSU offers admission into Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil., Ph.D. and D.Sc. /D.Litt./LLD programs through the admission procedure at the beginning of each academic session. NFSU will offer undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering or Sciences from the academic session 2021 onwards. Both Bachelor’s and master’s degrees will be awarded to candidates enrolled in the dual degree programs upon successful completion of the course curriculum. The types of academic programs offered at NFSU campuses and their minimum duration are given at Annexure.
3. Mode of Admission. Admission to the various programs of NFSU will be through either ‘online’ examination or ‘merit’ based.
(a) Online Examination. In case of ‘online’ Examination, the student shall be provided with login credentials of the examination portal. The student will appear for the examination from the selected examination Centre. However, considering the ongoing pandemic situation, the University may conduct online exam in which the students will be allowed to take the examination from their home.
(b) Merit Based Admission. In case of offline admission for PG courses; merit list shall be prepared considering graduation marks of passed out student’s/V semester aggregate marks of students whose results is not declared/awaited, however such admissions will be provisional. The student need to submit final semester mark sheet by the date as specified by the University and their admission will be confirmed only if required cut-off marks as stipulated by the University is fulfilled.
Application Fees.
(b) Foreign Students. $ 50 USD per program.
5. Entrance Examination.
(a) Format of Examination. The eligible candidates shall be required to appear in Entrance Test consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) carrying a total of 100 marks covering the syllabus prescribed for the concerned subject/program.
(b) Less Applications. Entrance Test may not be conducted for admission to a program/course where numbers of applications received are less than the twice of approved intake. In this case, admissions shall be given based on the merit of qualifying examination.
(c) Negative Marking. There will not be negative marking for wrong answers or un-attempted question/s.
(d) GATE/GPAT/CAT Score. The students with valid GATE/ GPAT/ CAT scores will get preference in admission in respective courses like Engineering, Pharmacy and Management. However, all these students will have to register and appear for the entrance examination.
(e) CLAT Score. The admission in LLB (Integrated) program will be based on the CLAT score, however the applicant has to register in the admission portal. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of applicants CLAT score.
(f) Preparation of Merit List for Admissions. In the process of making final admission offers to the M.Tech./M.Pharm./MBA programs, two separate merit list will be prepared for each program; one based on GATE/GPAT/CAT score, and the other based on marks obtained in NFSU entrance test. In each program, 50% of the seats will be filled through GATE/GPAT/CAT scores and other 50% by NFSU entrance test. The admission committee will consider a cut-off score in each category, based on the applications received and the seats available. If any seat in one category is not filled, it will be allocated to the other category. Final decision on this will be taken by the admission committee and will be binding to all. In other programs wherein GATE/GPAT/CAT/CLAT score are not applicable, admission will be on the basis of merit based on entrance test only.
6. Admission Procedure.
(a) General Courses. The selection of a candidate shall be based on his/her performance in the Entrance Test. The Entrance Test 2021 shall carry weight of 100 marks and a candidate shall be considered for selection if he/she has obtained positive score.
(b) In Case of Tie. Where two or more candidates have secured equal marks in the entrance test for admission to a particular program, the results shall be decided as follows: -
(ii) If in case, there is tie in graduation marks also than SSC (10+2) marks will be considered.
(iii) Further if, tie persists than HSC marks will be considered.
(c) Merit Based Admission. In case of Merit based/offline admission, merit list shall be prepared considering graduation marks for passed out students/till V semester aggregate marks for students whose result are awaited. In case of tie the procedure mentioned above at para 6(b) will be considered to prepare the merit. The students who are considered based on their aggregate marks till 5th semester due to awaited result, need to produce their final semester mark sheet by the deadline date as notified by the University. Their admission will be cancelled, if their aggregate marks considering the final semester marks falls below the stipulated cut-off marks as decided by the University.
7. Programs and Syllabus for Entrance Examination. The list of programs respective School-wise and the prescribed syllabus for the entrance examination is attached at Annexure I.
8. Eligibility Criteria. The eligibility for admission to each program is as per the
Annexure II.
9. Reservation of Seats.
(a) Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules of the Government of India. (b) Candidates who are not citizens of India (by birth or naturalized), do not belong to PIO/OCI category, and whose parents are not citizens of India and do not come under PIO/OCI category at the time of registering for the admission are treated as foreign nationals and they will be given admission under foreign student category as prescribed under University rules.
10. Certificate Formats. The formats of the certificates are at Annexure III. (a) For Candidates seeking admission under the GEN-EWS category GEN-EWS certificate (FORM-GEN-EWS) should have been issued on or after April 01, 2021. If any GEN-EWS candidate fails to collect the GEN-EWS certificate (issued on or after April 01, 2021) before online registration, he/she may upload a declaration (Declaration in lieu of GEN-EWS Certificate) to that effect.
(c) For Candidates seeking admission under the SC or ST category, Caste (for SC) or tribe (for ST) certificate (FORM-SC/ST), as per the latest guidelines of the Government of India.
(d) For Candidates seeking admission under the PwD category Physical Disability certificate (FORM-PwD II/III/IV whichever is applicable]) issued by the notified medical authority. Dyslexic candidate needs to submit FORM-DYSLEXIC 1 and 2 instead of FORM-PwD. The certificate must mention ‘SEVERE’ under Dyslexia category to enable the candidate to get the benefit of PwD category. NFSU will constitute medical boards at the time of admission to test the candidate’s level of disability. The opinion of such medical board shall be final and, on this basis, the benefit of PwD category may be allowed or withheld. (e) For Candidates needing the services of a scribe Request letter to the Campus Director, NFSU (FORM-SCRIBE).
(f) For Candidates seeking admission under the Children and Widows of Armed Force Personnel (CW) category, Certificate (FORM-CW) issued by a competent authority in the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defence or the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
