most powerful i7 processor—even when it’s a tablet. In other words, the Helix provides all the functionality of a state-of-the art Ultrabook™ and the
portability of a super thin Tablet—with absolutely no compromises.
A powerful, versatile device like the Helix will earn its keep in any large enterprise, but performance counts for nothing if a machine is often in need of repair—or worse still, replacement. Reassuringly, the Helix is designed and engineered to last without being pampered. Like other ThinkPad laptops, the Helix meets eight US mil-spec durability standards. But due to its convertibility, Lenovo engineers faced an additional design challenge. They had to pay particular attention to the coupling mechanism that allows the Helix’s keyboard dock to snap off, turning an Ultrabook™ into a Tablet, and back again.
The goal was to make the whole process instantaneous and fiddle-free. The mechanism also had to be strong enough to withstand thousands of snap-in and snap-out cycles. A formidable task, but the design goals were achieved, creating a computer which exceeds ThinkPad laptops own industry-leading standards of durability and usability.
