Those killed and wounded because of official failure and negligence

7 citizens, including 2 children and 1 police officer, lost their lives due to armored vehicle or civilian police vehicle crash; 89 citizens, including 26 children, lost their lives due to various cases of negligence,

including 34 persons who died in a train crash. TOTAL: 96

26 citizens; including 6 children, 2 soldiers and 1 police officer, were wounded due to armored vehicle or civilian police vehicle crash; 410 persons were injured due to train crash; 216 prisoners, 138 soldiers, 1,737 students and 911 persons suffered from food poisoning; 37 persons, including 3 children, were injured due to various cases of negligence.

According to information released by the press on 2 November 2018, in the response by the Ministry of the Interior to the parliamentary question tabled by CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer on violence against women, it was indicated that the number of women subjected to violence within the first 7 months of 2018 was 96 thousand and 417 and of these 393 lost their lives.

Daily Azadiya Welat was pulled off the shelf 3 times. 4 newspapers, 1 printing house, 2 journals were raided. 9 books were pulled off the shelves, 1 book was seized. The distribution of a newspaper was prevented once. Decisions to close down 5 newspapers were passed. 7 decisions to pull banners, flags and signboards off the shelves; 2 TV shows were fined. 16 TV broadcast suspensions. 3 publishing houses, 1 art house, 2 news sites were raided, one’s editor was arrested. Newspaper contact offices in 9 cities were raided. Newspaper and news agency websites were closed down or denied access 20 times. 15 news reports, 17 social media accounts, 5 Internet sites, 3 YouTube channels were denied access. One newspaper was fined 17,000 TRL.

Within the scope of emergency Decree Law No. 701 was published in the Official Gazette of 8 July 2018. Accordingly 3 newspapers (Halkın

It could be established that charges were brought against 808 persons, 422 persons were acquitted and 23 persons were sentenced to a total of 14 years and 7 months in prison.

It could be established that investigations were initiated against 602 persons, 7 lawsuits were brought against 133 persons, 20 persons were acquitted and 5 persons were sentenced to a total of 10 years, 5 months and 14 days in prison.

VIOLATIONS OF THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION

ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL RIGHTS Lay-offs:

- According to a statement by the Ministry of the Interior, a total of 259 elected local representatives (mukhtars), including 103 village representatives and 156 neighborhood representatives, were removed from office by the Minister of the Interior Suleyman Soylu. These representatives were evaluated to have been members of, affiliated with, in junction (iltisak) or connection with terrorist organizations or structures, formations or groups which were decided by the National Security Council to act against the national security of the state and seen to commit acts in non-compliance with the nature of their posts.

- 3 mayors were removed from office by the Ministry of the Interior. - 2 deputies’ memberships in the parliament were terminated.

- 9,633 workers, that could be ascertained by İHD, were laid off (various private institutions)

- The latest decree law no. 701 was published in the Official Gazette on 8 July 2018 and a total of 18 thousand 632 public employees working at various public institutions were dismissed from their posts through this decree law.
