Mobile Devices - Settings

• Access MxCC Wi-Fi

– Wi-Fi – On

– Choose MxCC-Public

– Enter your ID and password.

• Cellular – save power

– Turn off the apps that you do not need when using cellular data – International Travel – turn off Data Roaming

• Data Roaming - Off

• Settings> Airplane Mode –on

• Text Size: Settings>General>Text Size

Emails in Mobile Devices

• Email (iPhone/iPad)

– Add An Email Account

• Settings>Mail, Contacts,

Calendars>Add Account (Fetch New Data – Off)>Choose an application:

Exchange –College email, Yahoo, Gmail, or AOL> Name, Email, Password,

Description. Click on Next.> Save – leave all choices on –Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes.

• Read an email.

News Apps

• Flipboard – combination of news and social

media in a magazine layout

– Setup, choose the apps you would like to show in

Flipboard. Link with your Facebook.

Apps - Blackboard

• Go to App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android)

• In an iOS device, search for “Blackboard”, click on “Free” and then “Install”. You will be prompted to create an Apple ID first time to download an app. Sign up with Apple.com with an

username and password. Once the sign up is completed, the app will be downloaded.

• Open the Blackboard app.

• Search for “Connecticut Community Colleges”.

Use this page to log on.

Apps - Blackboard

• Choose the course you would like to visit.

• Choose a link in the “Course Menu” to explore.

• The Blackboard Mobile is not fully compatible with

mobile devices. Some tools will not work appropriately

such as Grade Center.

• Faculty

– Use mobile devices to check messages, post announcements, etc.

– Difficult to post files, grading, building tests, etc.
