Overview – Sync and Share

Sync & Share provides an enterprise-grade alternative to consumer cloud applications, utilizing private cloud infrastructure and providing end-to-end security. Managed via the portal, the solution allows enterprises and to set up file share and sync services for their users based on an object storage platform. Sync & Share solution can be used as:

 FTP alternative and large file transfer  Secure file access for BYOD users  Shared team workspaces

 File syndication (one-to-many or few-to-many)

Sync and Share Features

 Easy file sharing for teams: Empower end-users to collaborate with team features that include project-based sharing with role-based access controls, read/write privileges and time-limited sharing, with no IT staff involvement. Ad-hoc sharing of files with external users using time-limited unique URLs is also available.

 Access files anywhere: Bi-directionally synchronize folders to and from the cloud, making files readily accessible on users' laptops and desktops even when offline.

 Avoid the risks of consumer cloud applications: With client-side encryption, data-at -rest encryption in the cloud, true multi-tenancy with separation of data, and user-controlled encryption keys, provides a secure alternative to non-secure public cloud services.

 Extend sharing to mobile devices: The mobile application integrates with its cloud file sharing mechanism and provides file access and collaboration capabilities from mobile devices including iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

 Rapid, zero development deployment: With advanced Active Directory integration for single sign-on and authentication, including support for AD forests, as well as automated remote installation and upgrades, pre-configuration and template-based management.

Technical Features

Integration with Active Directory / LDAP

Use your existing Active Directory or LDAP directory services for identity management and user authentication, avoiding duplicate directory services, ensuring rapid deployment and maintaining role-based access privileges. Connectivity

Connecting the iomart data centres is a 20 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) fibre ring which provides resilience and diversity to minimise the impact of a single transit failure. Three peering sites across this ring provide 10Gbit uplinks to our transit providers; Tiscali, Interoute, Cogent, and Teleglobe and iomart also maintains private peering connections with LONAP and LINX.

All of our networking exchange hardware is housed in on-site dedicated cabinets. Each data centre network hub houses a Cisco Catalyst 7600-series modular switch, dual power supplies and a range of 7600-series fabric-enabled line cards to support both multiple fibre and copper gigabit connections. Automatic systems constantly monitor our entire network, transit links and servers. In the event of any problem, our data centre NOC teams are on site 24 hours a day. iomart Hosting holds on-site spares for critical equipment which powers our network to assist us in ensuring that we maintain our 100% uptime guarantee.
