Captioned telephone services allow you to LISTEN and READ captions of everything said during your phone conversations.
New Jersey CapTel and Sprint offer the following captioned telephone services to meet your unique needs:

You speak directly to the other party on the telephone.
The other party speaks directly to you.
The captioned telephone operator transcribes the other party’s spoken message into text (captions) using voice-recognition technology.
You listen to the other party on the telephone while reading captions of the conversation on a display screen.

n The Captioning Service is not engaged in processing 911 calls.
n When using CapTel 200/CapTel 800/CapTel 840 phone to call 911, it is handled the same as if you called 911 from a regular phone on your telephone service.
n The CapTel phone automatically converts to a Voice Carry-Over (VCO) phone and dials 911 directly.
