In all its gentleness and grace, WATER is a very powerful element; in fact,

water is one of the most potent forces of nature.

It’s no surprise that Water as an element plays a vital role in Chinese

Metaphysics.

The Water Feng Shui element is also the only element that is very free in its

presence and expression – it can happily run along the surface of the earth

(rivers, oceans), as well as fiercely flow from the higher grounds (waterfalls).

Why water though? What does it mean? Well, in Feng Shui, everything boils

down to the fundamental principle of Yin and Yang – the concept of balance.

This being said, the significance of water in Feng Shui is related to its Yang

quality.

Being a Yang component (active component) in Feng Shui, water’s role

naturally relates to activation or movement.

It plays the role of accumulating and activating Qi. Where there is water,

there is Qi. And when the Qi is there, it accumulates. But keep in mind that

water itself doesn’t emit Qi. It merely collects, stimulates and activates the

Qi. Water can also be used to direct, redirect, retain Sheng Qi (growing Qi)

and neutralize Sha Qi (killing Qi) appropriately.
