(2) GRANT’S FORTUNE TELLING CARD TRICK ********************************** After working a few card tricks how many times have you been asked “Can you tell fortunes with cards?” Fortune telling with cards has always been interesting. But how many of us wanted to spend the time to learn it? BESIDES there was no trick to it. NOW - You can say “YES.” Not only that. But you can actually tell people their ages, how many brothers, sisters, or children they have. Whom they are expecting a message from, the month of their birth, the year something important happened in their lives and numerous other interesting facts. AND THEY POSITIVELY - DO NOT write it down, whisper it to anyone, or tell a living soul. You can do this with a person you have never seen before. And you do not know the facts until you shuffle the cards and deal them out in a series of circles. Then you read the cards as they fall, and they tell you all these interesting facts about anyone. BELIEVE IT OR NOT - THE ABOVE IS AN ACTUAL FACT. You can work this five minutes after reading the instructions, without study or practice. You do not have to learn any special line of patter as in former methods. Just deal the cards out and read them as they fall. Tell the person the year they were born, during the month of so and so, and they are so old. They have so many brothers, sisters, children, etc. They are expecting a message from so & so, etc. And they have to admit that each and every item is correct. An actual fact. This is no mathematical or number stunt. No writing. No whispering or anything. Just a deck of cards. It sounds like a Miracle, that is just how it appears. And it is so simple you will say “Why didn’t I or someone else think of this long ago? THE SECRET You require one or two decks of cards. In one deck have a short card. At the start have this short card concealed in a pocket. Hand the two decks to the party and instruct them to take one deck and while your back is turned they are to deal four cards out on the table face up in. 2.

(3) a row to correspond with the year of their birth. For example, if they were born in 1980 the first card would be an Ace, to the right of that a 9, next card would be an 8, and for the last card they would place down a ten spot (as ten will represent a 0). Now on top of the card at the farthest left have them deal a card that corresponds with the month of their birth. If they were born in March they would deal a three spot card. If June, a six spot card etc. In this instance (only), tell them a ten is used for October (instead of 0), a Jack (11) for November, and a Queen (12) for December. Next, on the card to the right of this, goes a spot card that has the same number on it as they have brothers (if none they place a ten spot down). On card to right of this, they are to put down a spot card to correspond with the number of sisters they have. And on top of last card in row one to correspond with number of uncles. NOTE: Uncles can be changed to the number of children, if the person is an adult. Or, brothers and sisters can be changed to sons and daughters, and uncles to siblings. Now start over back to the left again and on top of that card, they place a card to correspond with a person whom they are expecting a message from. If a light haired young man they place down a red Jack, if dark haired young man a black jack. If light haired middle-aged man a red King, if dark a black King. If light haired lady a red Queen, if dark haired lady a black Queen. Now on top of card to right of this, a number to correspond with how many pets they have in their family (or any personal detail that might have an answer ranging from 0 to 9). On top of two cards to the right of this go cards to correspond with the age of someone close to them. For example, if they have a brother who is 28 years old they would place a 2 spot on the third pile and an 8 spot on the fourth pile. Last of all tell them to put down on top of the piles the year something important happened in their lives. For example, if they were married in 2012, they would place a 2 spot on top of left hand pile, a ten spot on the pile to the right of that, an Ace on the card to the right of that and another 2 spot on the last pile.. 3.

(4) Instruct them to turn all piles face down before you turn around as you do not want to see the face of any card they have dealt out. Then turn and walk to the table asking if they followed your instructions etc., as you say this you pick up the remainder of the deck. Turn your back again while they stack up the four piles. Instruct them to stack them in order so the first pile at the left will be at the top and the fourth at the bottom. While they are doing this you secretly add the short card to the top of the stack in your hand. Pick up their stack of cards and throw them on top of your stack. Then, as an afterthought remove them, taking the short card along with them. Now apparently shuffle this stack of cards but really give it a series of quick overhand single cuts that will appear as a shuffle. Now by the aid of the short card, cut that and all the cards below it to the top of the stack. While you turn your back again the person takes the remainder of deck of cards and divides it into as many piles as desired. Then on top of any one of these he places the stack you just shuffled, and assembles all of the piles up in any order desired. You return and apparently shuffle the entire deck, really giving it a series of single overhand cuts which will again appear as a genuine shuffle. To the layman it now appears as if the cards they originally dealt out are hopelessly lost and mixed in the deck. As they even placed them in any section of the deck while your back was turned. This part even fools Magicians. After shuffling the deck give it a cut, cutting the short card and all the cards below it to the top of the deck. Take the top card (really the short card) and place on the center of the table face down. Around the outside of this in a wide circle deal the next top 16 cards face up. In a circle on the inside of this large one deal as many or as few cards as desired, as unknown to the audience you are only interested in the outside circle. The illustration (of the outside circle) on the next page shows the order the cards (dealt clockwise). Please note, the cross lines are shown simply to indicate how the circle is divided into four groups of four. 4.

(5) The cards for each question or set of questions “rotates” every four cards. For example, the 1st, 5th, 9th and 13th cards in the outside circle will tell you the year the person was born - the answer to the first question. In our example, the four cards are Ace - 9 - 7 - 3, so you know they were born in 1973. By looking at the 2nd card in the circle you also know the month of their birth, which also tells you their current age. In the illustration, a 6 is shown in the second spot indicating the month of June. The 6th card indicates how many brothers they have (a 10 representing 0), while the 10th card tells you how many sisters (an Ace for 1). The 14th card is the number of uncles (2). (For this group, you start with the 2nd card and then count four more cards to reach the next one...2, 6, 10, 14.) The 3rd card tells you whom they are expecting a message from. As already stated, this is indicated by a court card with a Jack for a 5.

(6) young man, a Queen for a lady, a King for an older man. Red cards are for light or light-haired individuals, and black cards for those who are dark or have dark hair. In the illustration the Jack of Spades represents a young dark, or dark-haired, man. Now advancing four ahead as with the previous groups, the 7th card the number of pets in the family (3). The 11th and 15th cards, the age of someone close to them. A 2 and an 8 are shown in the illustration indicating the person is 28 years old. Finally, the 4th, 8th, 12th and 16th cards tell you the year something important happened in their lives. The illustration shows 2 - 10 Ace - 2 in these positions, so the year of the important happening is 2012. Now have them make a wish, then say you will turn over the center card. If black their wish will come true. If red they lose their wish. This is the short card so you can make sure their wish will come true by using a black card! The reason we mention two decks at the start is that sometimes a person runs out of Aces, etc., before they get all 16 cards out. In this case they can use cards from the other deck. NOTE: Grant’s approach offers you a lot of flexibility for acquiring other types of information. Really anything that can be represented by a number. Use as outlined or rework questions to suit your own requirements.. 6.
