automated data exchange between Symbio Client and SharePoint
1.6.1 Hardware requirements
There are no specific hardware requirements for Symbio Modeling Clients, managed by SharePoint.
The hardware requirements for Symbio Publishing, hosted by SharePoint, are:
additional hard drive space to buffer the web during web publishing A dedicated Windows Server for Symbio for SharePoint is recommend.
If Publishing is done with SharePoint ExternHTML-Template an additional IIS to host the web(s) is required. It is possible to use dedicated servers for SharePoint and IIS. And it is possible to share one server for Symbio for SharePoint and IIS.
1.6.2 Common SharePoint requirements
Please see MS recommendations for MS SharePoint hardware and software requirements to setup a MS SharePoint server/farm.
The common requirements for all scales require:
a technical user to administrate SharePoint and to upload/download documents
a dedicated SharePoint Site
a dedicated document library for every dedicated data set
unrestricted data traffic between involved systems (if necessary: firewall configuration, trusted relationships, certificates, …).
To provide comfortable upload/download for only a view documents, the WebDAV interface is recommended.
To provide fast and comfortable upload/download for many documents, the WebDAV interface in collaboration with robocopy.exe is recommended.

Alternatively MS SharePoint “Client Object Model” in collaboration with Ploetz + Zeller’sMossConnector.exe is recommended. Additionally this configuration can handle check in/check out and document property manipulation.
Another alternative is a server-site upload/download service, that can be achieved by MS SharePoint “Server Object Model” in collaboration with PowerShell scripts.
