The curriculum ensures exposure to core management principles, and electives are offered to tailor your learning to your personal interests and career goals.
While all course instructions are anchored on the Harvard case-study method of teaching, LBS has gone a step further by developing local case studies that provide solutions to problems faced by companies in emerging markets.
The case studies offer a robust sampling of potential business problems a manager would encounter in business management practice. For MBA participants, the insti-tution provides further industry immersion opportunities by offering them a three-month internship programme and professional services in a local or multinational company. The experience creates a convergence of theory and practice.

Programme Delivery and Content
To successfully complete the MBA programme, 15 months of in-class study, 3 months of cor-porate paid internship and at least 72 credit hours of course work are required. There will be three semesters in all; two semesters in the first academic year, one semester in the final year. The last two semesters are elective se-mesters and students can choose to partici-pate in student exchange programmes with our partner schools abroad or offer electives locally.
After the first year, a three months corporate internship is required. LBS uses the case-study method to facilitate learning. With case stud-ies, students are able to apply the concepts and skills that the course is designed to teach, and integrate knowledge from other courses as well as from real-life experiences.
Participation is crucial to the learning process. Thus, students must devote some time to per-sonal study to identify the key issues of the case and do some analysis before the class discussion. Work groups are also constituted to enable students discuss parts of the case they find difficult before going into the class-room.
Group meetings also enable them see prob-lems and solutions from different perspectives, as the different educational and work experi-ences of fellow students create a rich diversity.

“The networking opportunities were
immense; every day offered a new
opportunity to meet with a business
leader…I ended up with three
employment offers…”
I was fresh out of school and was working as the Operations Manager for Arden and New-ton, a firm I founded with a friend. After some years, I felt I was ready for the next level. With my engineering background, I needed to de-velop management expertise, grow my net-work and increase my exposure. So I decided to join the LBS MBA programme.
The course content was rich and the delivery, effective. There was a unique blend of global and local perspectives. The networking op-portunities were immense; every day offered a new opportunity to meet with a business leader. I was privileged to lead the first ever LBS Africa Business Conference and that ex-perience has been life changing for me. I was also part of the team that represented the school at the John Moulson Business Case Competition in Canada.
My LBS internship gave me my first interna-tional work experience and the application of learned concepts earned me an award of business excellence from the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
The Career Office provided opportunities to network with several employers and equipped me with the skills to apply and go through the recruitment processes. I ended up with three employment offers and chose my pres-ent employer as it aligned with my future ca-reer goals. Arguably, no other business school would have offered me the skills to navigate the global business environment and simul-taneously provide the contextual expertise needed to overcome the challenges of doing business in Africa.

“The MBA stretches you. You gain
leadership skills, increase your
ca-pacity to navigate through
uncer-tainty, and you are able to take on
just about any challenge in the work
place. Getting my MBA at LBS is one of
the best decisions I have ever made.”
Having worked for a few years, I needed the next big challenge. I wanted to develop core managerial skills that could fast track my ca-reer and position me to take on bigger lead-ership opportunities.
If I wanted a world-class MBA out of Africa, I knew it had to be LBS. I knew the opportu-nities the School opened up for its Alumni. I wanted global knowledge that had local rele-vance, and I got it!
In the course of the programme, every course added value, with the highest levels of mental engagement one could ask for. I was a key member of the student-led team that pioneered the Africa Business Conference in 2013. I was a Co-Chair responsible for Media and Marketing Communications. We attract-ed over 400 participants (over 20 speakers) drawn from across the continent, and secured big media partnerships including CNBC Afri-ca, Forbes Africa and BusinessDay.
My internship with Accenture Consulting Nigeria was another highlight of the pro-gramme. The MBA opened up the opportu-nity to work in this prestigious organisation where I had the opportunity to network and work on really challenging projects.
