This document describes software operational training for computerized engine set ups with Sr. Nos E203 onwards
Reopening the software
Ensure NI USB-6210 (data acquisition device) is connected to USB port of the computer
Switch on Computer
Refer Desktop icons. If the computer is preloaded with “Measurement & Automation” and
“ICEngineSoft” respective icons are shown on the desktop. If “New Data acquisition device” window appears then Data Acquisition Device is detected by the computer indicating
USB Port
communication is OK
Select Cancel (If OK is selected lab Test panels shall be loaded which is not needed)

Select: File| Configure |Product
In “Configure the product” window select “Load Default”. Under “Select File” choose your Setup from drop down menu.

Under “Set Parameters” study the parameters under Engine, Sensors, Combustion and Performance tabs. Click on “OK “
Changing the parameters:
If any parameter is to be changed Click “New/Change”. Change the parameter under respective tabs.

Click “OK” to save changes.

Reconfiguring the graphs
Select: File| Configure |Graph
Under “Configure The Graphs” window “Select a Configuration” from the drop down menu.
Study the preset configuration of X axis, Y axis, graph ranges, Colors for the selected graphs.

Configure the necessary parameters, ranges, colours as required. Click “SAVE” / “Save As” and
then”Close & SET”
Online Data acquisition
Switch on the electric supply for engine panel and start the engine.
Click toggle switch “Mode” to Start/Stop the device communication. (Green color indicates ON condition)
Click toggle switch “Measureme” to Start/ Stop data acquisition. (Green color indicates ON condition) Note three vertical tabs viz. Combustion, Performance, Report. Under vertical Combustion tab
horizontally following tabs are available: Combustion, Cylinder Pr., PV, Log PV, RPR etc. Similarly under other vertical tabs we get more horizontal tabs.

Click “Combustion” on vertical tab and “Cylinder Pr.” On horizontal tab to view following screen.

Click “Combustion” on vertical tab and “Log PV” On horizontal tab to view following screen.
For storing the reading click Log ON and follow the screen instructions.
Enter the Water flow readings during data logging.
When prompted enter the file name for the data to be logged.
Click toggle switch “Measureme” to Stop data acquisition.

Viewing logged Data
Click File|Data|Open and Select the data file to be viewed.
Click “Next data” to view next observation till end of file.
Select “Observation” tab under Performance tab to view “Observation Data“

Select “POWER” tab under Performance tab to view IP,BP & FP Graphs.

Select “Thermal Efficiency” tab under Performance tab to view Indicated and Brake thermal efficiency plots.

Select “POWER” tab under Performance tab to view IP,BP & FP Graphs.
If pre-configured before data logging the “POWER” tab under “Performance” tab can show IP, BP, FP Vs Compression Ratio graphs.
If pre-configured before data logging the “Thermal Efficiency” tab under “Performance” tab can show Indicated and Brake thermal efficiency Vs Compression Ratio graphs.

Report Printing Click “Report” tab for generating Performance Report, Combustion Report.
Enter File name in “Report File”.
Select the Report Requirements viz. Result Data, Observation Data, Graph Only OR Graph and Table.
(Note: If “Graph and Table” option is selected under Combustion Report, the size of the output file for
printing becomes too big. However it can be viewed in Excel)
