Individuals admitted to the practical nursing program have to validate nursing skills prior to performance of the nursing skills in the clinical setting.

Nursing faculty will provide opportunities for tutoring and the students will be encouraged to utilize the ATI resources to supplement instruction. A nursing remediation course will be implemented for any student with a non-progression in an effort to improve the student's success in the future. Statewide efforts are underway to re-examine the statewide admission criteria.

Outcome Measure:

Completion rates will be determined beginning with the first semester of required nursing courses by calculating whether or not the PN student completes the program in five semesters

Results:

12 of the 14 8/11 PN cohort responded to the exit interview and indicated a positive perception of the PN program by responding "yes" on the Exit Interview to the question, "Are you satisfied with your nursing education?" 17 of the 17 graduates in the 5/12 PN cohort responded to the exit interview and indicated a positive perception of the PN program by responding "yes" on the Exit Interview to the question, "Are you satisfied with your nursing education?" 73 %of the 8/11 PN cohort responding to the graduate survey distributed within one year after graduation indicated satisfaction with the program as evidenced by an overall score of a least "3" on the Survey.
