Environmental Management Services Environmental Management Services

The need for businesses to address environmental issues has never been greater. Environmental legislation is becoming ever more stringent, and society is increasing its expectations of how business and industry should respect the environment in their day-to-day operations. A company must be seen to be acting upon, not just acknowledging its duty to the environment. These factors, together with environmental requirements in contracts and tenders, are forcing businesses to improve their environmental performance as never before.

Our highly-qualified environmental consultants assist clients in reducing their carbon footprint and developing cost-effective energy solutions. They can also scrutinise companies’ operations to identify wastage and advise on ways to improve efficiency.

Our services include:

» Energy consumption surveys

» Waste production analysis and identification of

environmentally harmful aspects of business

operations

Medilink International Medilink International

Operating under our Medilink International brand, IHS has nearly two decades of experience in providing comprehensive medical consultancy and emergency services as well as medical staff and equipment to clients operating overseas, particularly those based in remote regions and austere climates.

Medilink is a specialist in field operations and offers a distinct edge with innovative proprietary services such as our Emergency Alert Vehicle System (EAVS). From our nerve centre in Malta, strategically located between Europe, Africa and the Middle East, we co-ordinate and deploy our services efficiently throughout the world. Managed by a highly dedicated and resourceful team of professionals with years of experience in different fields, we guarantee that our clients receive the best and most efficient level of service. We ensure that we effectively offer medical operations in some of the most isolated, hazardous and hostile environments in the world. Medilink has three core service areas:

» Audit & Consultancy

» On-site Medical Services

» Emergency Alert Vehicle System

Medical Services

(12)

Medical Audit & Consultancy Medical Audit & Consultancy

Medical Audit &

Consultancy

Medilink works on the entire audit cycle, and can cover a client’s full operations ranging from workplaces and sites to equipment and medical personnel. We can be commissioned for a single stage or be brought in to assist throughout the audit cycle. As an independent organisation, Medilink is ideally placed to carry out an audit and consultancy role.

Audit & Assessment

Medilink offers health risk assessments and audits of medical facilities. These services identify the potential hazards of the workplace and evaluate the efficiency of the medical services in operation. Our audits also check whether budgets are sufficient to provide the requisite services and whether budgets are managed efficiently. Audit and assessment also help clients take steps to avoid hazards and reduce work related injuries and accidents. These assessments cover:

» Medical facilities on site

» Medical support facilities in the

area

» Public Health Issues

» Standard operating procedures

» Emergency response procedures

Our audit provides a blueprint for the type of services required and identifies the steps needed to ensure that the health, safety and medical solutions on the ground are reliable and cost-effective.

(13)

Medical Audit & Consultancy Medical Audit & Consultancy

Design & Planning

Following audit, we design and plan the medical services required for safe on-site operations.

Our planning takes into consideration aspects such as:

» the risks involved in the work

being carried out on site

» the remoteness of the location

» the existing level of medical

evacuation support

» the size of the operation

» any factors which may make the

delivery of medical care more

complex

We provide our clients with comprehensive documentation regarding our

recommendations of the medical services required on site, training and equipment requirements together with cost considerations.

Policies & Procedures

This is one of the most important aspects in the planning of any operation. We draft policy and procedure manuals for individual client projects and detail the courses of action to be taken by staff in any given situation. We are specialists in developing Medical Emergency Response Plans that are tailored to client businesses and industries and the regions in which they operate.

Medilink ensures clients are well prepared, with the right protocols in place, to guarantee rapid and safe responses for the emergency evacuation of critically injured or ill personnel. Procedures are carried out in line with international health and safety standards and follow an intensive study of the clients’ operation, terrain and conditions of the site. We also detail more routine medical situations, such as clinical protocols for medical teams as well as frameworks for clinical governance.

Occupational Health

Planning

Medilink works with clients on specific assignments to set up Occupational Health policies and procedures. Our vast, multidisciplinary experience enables us to develop specific ‘Fitness-for-the-job’ policies.

We also provide independent reviews of clients’ occupational health provision and advice on staff well-being. Our programmes also cover health promotion and education.

Site Medical Services Site Medical Services

Staffing

At Medilink, we advise on the medical staffing required to operate safely and efficiently. We offer training to our clients’ existing medical and non-medical staff, thereby assisting them in growing their own capabilities.

Medilink also provides experienced medical personnel, such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, first aid specialists, oil field medics and emergency specialists. We evaluate medical staff carefully, assessing their clinical skills and also their psychological suitability to work in remote environments and at given client sites. All our personnel have experience in working overseas and are accustomed to a variety of regions and cultures.

Our medical staff working in remote locations receive clinical management support from our Medilink Headquarters. Our medics therefore never work in isolation. Senior management regularly audits our delivery of clinical services on the sites we operate.

Medical Equipment &

Supplies

Medilink is highly experienced in the management and deployment of medical services in remote locations and we routinely supply a full range of equipment,

Site Medical Services

We are able to supply mobile clinics and ensure effective care of our clients’ staff in remote environments. Mobile clinics can be equipped to meet specific needs and range from basic emergency clinics to complete operating theatres. We have several fully-equipped mobile clinics for immediate deployment to any location. They are designed to withstand extremes of terrain and climate.

Topside Support

Our team of senior medical specialists and consultants at base, support medics working in remote regions by providing round-the-clock, real-time advice and second opinions. Topside support is also a highly cost-effective and efficient diagnostic route. Without this service, even in routine situations, on-site doctors may need to refer a patient to base for a second opinion. In many instances, this would have proved unnecessary, yet would have incurred transport costs and resulted in lost productivity for the client.

Air Ambulance Services Air Ambulance Services

Air Ambulance Services

In line with Medilink’s mission to give its clients total support and peace of mind, our Air Ambulance evacuation services are on call round-the-clock and available worldwide. Uncompromisingly high standards of medical care and customer service are inherent in all we do. However, our commitment to delivering consistent and exceptional quality, cost effectively, is all the more evident in our Medevac air ambulance services which are deployed in some of the most demanding and critical situations facing our clients.

The Medevac Team

Our Medevac service is based on profound medical expertise and extensive training. The Medilink Air Ambulance (MIAA) team is an integrated body of professionals comprising specialists who are cross trained to work together seamlessly to deliver a coordinated, quality service. On dedicated air ambulance flights, the crew’s main focus is on patient care, all the while maintaining medical and flight training standards, safe and efficient flight operations and excellence in customer care.

All medical personnel forming the flight crew are proven professionals with core medical training. Our pilots are highly qualified, experienced professionals. All flight crew undergo extensive specialised in-house, aero-medical training. In addition, medical staff go through a rigorous Aviation Safety Training Programme focused on patient transport.

Air Ambulances

MIAA operates a dedicated BEECH 200 Super King Air series aircraft. Considered among the best Medevac aircraft in their class, they are the preferred choice of the medium-to-short distance aero-medical providers on account of their larger cabin space, reliability and cost- effectiveness. Together with a strategic partner, MIAA operates a Lear Jet 36A for longer hauls. Both aircraft are based in Malta near Medilink’s headquarters and 24/7 emergency alert centre. We also have other dedicated air ambulance aircraft available which are deployed instantly if further resources are required.

Our Commitment to Quality

To monitor and improve on all aspects of our air ambulance service, we implemented from the outset a Total Quality Management (TQM) programme focused on patient care, medical and flight training standards and safe and efficient flight operations. This brings all aspects of our air ambulance Medevac services under scrutiny, from medical operations, maintenance and dispatch to marketing, finance and administration.

Emergency Alert Vehicle Systems

Emergency Alert

Vehicle Systems

(EAVS)

Medilink International is always researching ways of providing its clients with peace of mind wherever their operations take them. This is of critical importance in remote areas where traditional A&E response is not available. Medilink has developed a sophisticated, sensor–triggered, in-vehicle accident and emergency alert system that can be installed in private or commercial fleets to ensure safe travel, whether in the busiest of cities or in the remotest of environments. Working with the latest GPS system, our emergency alert vehicle system offers the ultimate in peace of mind, giving staff total emergency cover. It allows them to be close to help even when this is very far away.

The innovative EAVS triggers off a sensor in case of a vehicular collision or if manually triggered by the driver. This sends an immediate alarm to our 24/7 Emergency Alarm Centre. Immediate data comes up on screen providing our co-ordinators with crucial information regarding the vehicle, its driver and the
