Three-Courses Closer to College: Indus. Maintenance, Machine Tool Op., Welding (Bridge program)
This project is creating two pre-trades courses in dealing with reading and math that, combined with the Work Certified program offered by Bay Area WDB, will form a bridge program that prepares learners for the Industrial Maintenance, Machine Tool Operation, and Welding programs.
Completion of the bridge will qualify learners for program admission without further assessment. The reading and math courses will be
contextualized and team taught by ABE or ELL and occupational instructors.

Industrial Maintenance (Bridge & postsecondary)
This project will develop a career pathway of three to five employer-supported certificates embedded in the Industrial Maintenance Program (either a 2-year AD or TD, depending on college). ELL Nursing Assistant Bridge (I-BEST)
This project created a version of the CNA course that integrates ELL instruction into the federally required nursing assistant curriculum and uses a team teaching approach. NTC’s objective is to significantly improve the success of SE Asian individuals in the CNA program. Area health care organizations have a strong interest in diversifying their nursing staff. This CNA project is seen as a proving ground for concepts that could next be applied to the LPN program.

Rising in NE Wisconsin: General Manufacturing & Welding (Bridge program)
This project has created certificate programs in General Manufacturing and Welding that will equip learners for entry-level jobs and postsecondary occupational programs. NWTC used DACUM and WESA processes to identify curriculum content, and the curricula integrates basic skills, ELL and occupational skills. The certificates will be aimed at ABE/ELL students, incumbent workers, and participants in the WDB’s Work Certified program.

IT Integrated Curriculum (I-BEST & postsecondary)
This project modified Network Fundamentals and Project Management courses to integrate reading and math basic skills with technical skills. Also, four new 1-credit basic skills courses that specifically complement the learning activities of these modified IT courses are being created. This package of new courses will eliminate separate development/remedial requirements for the Web Analyst/Programmer and Computer Support Specialist associate degree programs and existing short term certificates that ladder into these associate degrees.
