Using the Catalyst 1900 Series

Telco Mounting Brackets

June 4, 1999

This document provides instructions for using the telco mounting brackets supplied with the Catalyst 1924-EN-DC Ethernet switch (hereafter referred to as the

Catalyst 1924-EN-DC switch or the switch) and installing the switch in a telco rack.

Note This document uses the term switch to refer to the Catalyst 1924-EN-DC switch. In this document, the term switch does not refer to a telco device.

After you have installed the switch in a rack, see the Connecting the Catalyst 1924-EN-DC

Switch to a DC-Input Power Source for information about connecting the switch to a

DC-input power source.

Choosing the Correct Mounting Brackets

The switch is shipped with two pairs of mounting brackets. One pair is for telco racks with mounting holes that are 1 -inch apart; the other pair is for telco racks with mounting holes that are 1-inch apart (Figure 1). Select the pair that is suitable for the telco rack in which you plan to install your switch.

The bracket orientation and the screws you use depend on whether you are attaching the brackets for 19-, 23-, or 24-inch telco rack-mounting:

For 19-inch telco rack-mounting, use the supplied Phillips flat-head screws to attach the long side of the bracket to the switch.

For 23- or 24-inch telco rack-mounting, use the supplied Phillips truss-head screws to attach the short side of the bracket to the switch.

Place the switch on a level surface, and use two of the supplied Phillips flat-head or truss-head screws to attach a mounting bracket to each side of the switch. Secure all four screws tightly, but do not overtighten them.

The following sections show how to attach only one bracket to one side of the switch. Follow the same steps to attach the second bracket to the opposite side of the switch.

Cisco Connection Online

Cisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems’ primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco’s customers and business partners. CCO services include product information, product documentation, software updates, release notes, technical tips, the Bug Navigator, configuration notes, brochures, descriptions of service offerings, and download access to public and authorized files.

CCO serves a wide variety of users through two interfaces that are updated and enhanced simultaneously: a character-based version and a multimedia version that resides on the World Wide Web (WWW). The character-based CCO supports Zmodem, Kermit, Xmodem, FTP, and Internet e-mail, and it is excellent for quick access to information over lower bandwidths. The WWW version of CCO provides richly formatted documents with photographs, figures, graphics, and video, as well as hyperlinks to related information. You can access CCO in the following ways:
