Gatherings for October, Chapter Members Only NC-A Greensboro, NC-G2 Waynesville NC-K2 Fayetteville, NC-M2 Hendersonville

Hello Members.

The corona virus left us without a place to have our monthly meeting again in September. I ask that we not get disgusted with the situation that we find ourself in and hope that the Governor will allow us to be able to use Capt. Bill’s soon. We have been given the go-ahead for having a gathering of just Chapter A mem-bers for October. That does not mean that we cannot meet in smaller groups in an open area where we can maintain safe procedures or do rides. Several members met and participated in the Eastern Region Ride on September 19th and the Western Region Ride on September 26th. Look for some pictures further into the newsletter. Maybe we could get a group together for the Central Region Ride on October 10th.

David Wilson and I had the opportunity to help a fellow Gold Winger from the Atlanta area. His bike died on him on a Sunday afternoon on Highway 29 North just before Cone. We were able to pick his bike up and take it to Winston-Salem for repairs. He found us in the GWRRA Gold Book and seemed shocked that we were so willing to help him. On their way back to the area on Wednesday he found his bike repaired and ready for the return trip home. Another good deed for a fellow Gold Winger.

In the mean time Nancy and I wish all to stay well, ride safe and take care to stay well. Carl and Nancy

Greetings From Your Ride Coordinator

Happy Fall! Welcome to cooler temperatures, brilliant fall colors – the trees are changing, leaves are dropping and blowing in the wind! Went for a ride in the mountains yesterday, and was very glad I was wearing a full-face helmet. Chilly, temps in the 40’s starting out, came home to 64 degrees – brisk, but stimulating. The helmet kept me warmer, and with all the leaves blowing in the air, kept the leaves off my face and out of my mouth! Dry leaves are not usually a problem for motorcyclists, but remember that wet leaves can be very slick, so slow down and use caution.

We’re still stuck in Corona-ville, but things are loosening up. Really looking forward to our picnic meeting at Hagen Stone Park on October 17! It’s been so long since we’ve been able to get together. No hugs yet, but we can wave and talk. It’s not quite Halloween yet, but we will be wearing masks – most folks have gone from the plain medical paper masks to more interesting and colorful masks, so we’ll be in compliance with the Governor’s order, but can be very interesting and attractive, even!

Some riding is picking up and Calvin Cave was kind enough to share the Fall Color Calendar! It’s time to head to the mountains, whether by 2-, 3-, or 4-wheels, to enjoy what we expect to be spec-tacular color this season. We deserve it! God’s world is beautiful!

Biketoberfest reduces scope for 2020: Biketober-fest is a go for Oct. 15-18 in Volusia County, Fla., but the annual gathering of motorcycling

enthusi-asts likely will be smaller than in its previous 28 years. While Daytona Beach officials de-nied vendor permits due to concerns about the continuing coronavirus threat, in nearby Or-mond Beach, commissioners granted vendor permits, allowing popular attractions Destina-tion Daytona and the Iron Horse Saloon to cater to the crowds. Tourism officials expect far fewer motorcyclists this year than the typical 100,000 who attend the annual fall event. I’ve been teaching 2-wheel and 3-wheel motorcycle classes, but will be less busy after this month, and hope to have some Chapter A members to ride with. I’ve been fortunate to ride with Dave and Helen Wilson, Calvin and Fran Cave, and Larry and Jane Weavil. Riding can be enjoyable even when social-distancing, and is exercise for

both mind and body to help us stay healthier and more posi-tive.

Remember, after not riding for a while, we need to be careful and practice to sharpen our skills. Please do your T-CLOCS pre-ride inspection on your bike, and don your ATGATT (all the gear, all the time) every time your ride!

Ride safely, ride often! Paula Hines

I just bought a 2018 Goldwing DCT. Now I need to sell my 2010 Goldwing Navi.

It is in good condition and has about 99000 miles on it. No problems— just changed oil, tires, brakes and air filter. Has a trunk rack, highway pegs, CB, a gel seat made from the original one (lowers the rider too), has a super brace on it and the hornet deer whistle.

I am looking for a quick sale and the price I am asking is $8000. Note the GPS mounted on the bike does not come with it, only the intercanal one. I would like to sell it ASAP.

Any questions, please call or text me at 631-748-1479.
