INTRODUCTION

Getting a good degree is, on its own, not enough anymore. With increasing numbers of students going to

university, graduates with good degrees are easy to find. However, according to a survey by the Association of

Graduate Recruiters (AGR), ’Employers are likely to be looking for graduates who can demonstrate softer skills

such as teamwork, cultural awareness, leadership and communication skills, as well as academic achievement’.

Therefore, the work skills are more required than good degrees.

Job training is an excellent way to apply students’s subject knowledge and skills in a real life situation and also

help them understand and acclimatice the world of work, including its social and cultural aspects. Job training

also enriches students with work experiences that build their team work, independence, responsibility and

confidence. Furthermore, students can get a lot of information` about the latest technologies applied in

industry, challenges, research or project work which are undertaken by the company. So, the students have a

chance to develop the key technologies or also get involved in the research itself.

BACKGROUND

1. Job training course (FI 4092) is highly recomended for students in Physics Department of ITB.

2. The need of knowledge and experience of earth physics students about the situation working in the

industry also working with the latest technology applied in there.

PURPOSES

1.

Knowing and understanding the qualifications of a geophysicist.

2.

Opening thoughts and insights about the real situations in oil and gas services industry, so then students

can do the preparation well before directly involved in it.
