High  stretch  fabrics  with  eVent®  ePTFE  membrane  technology  come  to  market

DVStretch™  innovation  the  result  of  collaboration

between  ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto  S.r.l.  and  eVent  fabrics

Stretch  fabrics  made  with  the  patented  eVent®  membrane  technology  is  coming  to  the  active

sportswear  market,  thanks  to  a  collaboration  between  Italian  textile  house  ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto  S.r.l.  and   the  team  at  eVent  fabrics.

The  pioneering  DVStretch™  technology  features  the  eVent  ePTFE  membrane  in  laminations  that  have  an   unprecedented  degree  of  stretch—finished  fabrics  can  stretch  up  to  85%  and  fully  recover.

“High  stretch  with  excellent  recovery  capability  has  been  extremely  difficult  to  achieve  with  ePTFE,”   explains  Chad  Kelly,  Global  Product  Manager  for  eVent  fabrics.  “The  hurdle  has  been  in  the  lamination,   and  ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto,  with  its  advanced  lamination  capabilities,  solved  this  challenging  trick.”

According  to  Kelly,  two  developments  were  required  to  successfully  create  the  high-‐stretch  DVStretch   laminates.    ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto  created  the  proprietary  lamination  process  that  allows  the  three-‐layer   laminates  to  stretch  yet  retain  their  elasticity.    The  eVent  fabrics  team  produced  a  unique  membrane   product  that  would  meet  the  requirements  of  the  lamination  process,  as  well  as  achieve  specific   performance  benefits.

The  new  finished  fabrics  using  DVStretch  technology  are  available  through  Trapuntatura  Bel  Punto  S.r.l.

ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto’s  Alex  Fozzato  said,  “This  is  an  exciting  new  product  introduction  for  the  fabrics   industry  and  the  marketplace.    We  have  tested  the  DVStretch  fabrics  thoroughly  with  professional   cyclists  and  they  tell  us  the  performance  is  excellent.”

(3)

DVStretch  is  one  of  eVent  fabrics’  membranes  with  Direct  Venting™  (DV)  technology,  meaning  that  the   membranes  are  air  permeable  and  have  a  porous  structure  that  lets  heat  and  body  moisture  pass   through  easily.    Additionally,  DVStretch  is  windproof  and  provides  waterproof  protection.

According  to  Kelly,  this  combination  of  performance  benefits  is  ideal  for  aerobically  demanding  sports   that  generate  a  lot  of  heat  and  moisture  but  also  require  essential  protection  from  wind  and  wet   weather.  Uses  include  cycling,  running  and  Nordic  skiing,  as  well  as  fast  and  light  trekking  or  climbing.

Lamination  partner  ITTTAI-‐Bel  Punto  S.r.l.  is  a  well-‐regarded  Italian  textile  manufacturer  with  over  25   years  experience  supplying  European  fashion  brands.  Its  ITTTAI  division  (http://www.itttai.com/en/)   serves  the  fitness,  snow  sports,  and  outdoor  markets  with  finished  laminates  using  eVent  fabrics’   waterproof  and  windproof  technologies.

“Bel  Punto’s  wealth  of  experience  in  fashion  gives  them  the  ability  to  develop  stylish  but  high

performing,  functional  fabrics  for  cycling  and  other  sports,”  says  Kelly.  “We  are  excited  that,  together,   we  are  bringing  this  stretch  film  and  laminate  technology  to  the  market.”

About  eVent®  membrane  technology  and  eVent  fabrics

eVent  fabrics,  introduced  in  1999,  were  the  first  air  permeable  and  waterproof  performance  textiles  on   the  market.    The  patented  Direct  Venting™  technology  in  eVent  waterproof  fabrics  has  been  lauded  for   its  ability  to  ‘let  the  sweat  out™’  and  enhance  the  comfort  of  rainwear  and  footwear.  The  technology   used  in  eVent  membranes  was  invented  in  the  1990s  to  improve  the  pollutant-‐capturing  performance  of   air  filtration  systems  and  give  superior  protection  to  industrial  machinery.  CLARCOR  Industrial  Air   manufactures  the  eVent  membranes,  collaborating  with  worldwide  suppliers  to  offer  textiles  to   companies  that  create  apparel,  footwear,  shelter  and  accessories  for  the  outdoor  sporting  goods,   military  and  professional  markets.  For  more  information,  visit  www.eventfabrics.com.

eVent®  fabrics  rolls  out  the  next  evolution  of  its  brand  identity

and  new  iconography  at  OutDoor  Show

OutDoor  Show  2014  –  Hall  B4  Stand  310

eVent®  fabrics  will  unveil  the  next  evolution  of  the  eVent  brand  at  the  OutDoor  Show  in  Friedrichshaven,   Germany  on  July  10th  In  Hall  B4  Stand  310.

The  revitalized  logo  is  the  first  sign  of  the  brand  makeover  that  is  underway  for  eVent  fabrics,  and  it  follows   new  ownership  by  CLARCOR  Inc.      Last  December,  CLARCOR  Inc.  acquired  the  Air  Filtration  business  of  General   Electric  Company’s  Power  and  Water  division,  to  form  CLARCOR  Industrial  Air,  which  owns  eVent  fabrics.   “We  are  excited  about  the  potential  of  growing  eVent  as  a  consumer  brand,  and  we  are  committed  to   supporting  growth  through  investments  in  technology  and  revitalized,  strategic  marketing  to  support  our   brand  partners,”  said  Keith  White,  President  CLARCOR  Industrial  Air.

The  rebranding  initiative  will  unfold  over  the  next  year  and  will  be  consumer-‐facing  for  Fall  2015.

The  new  logo  retains  the  signature  orange  color  and  features  a  modern,  bold  font  of  the  word  eVent,  with  a   strong,  capital  V  that  emphasizes  the  word  Vent,  which  is  a  key  product  benefit  of  the  air  permeable

technology  found  in  many  eVent  membranes.    Additionally,  a  degree  symbol  (°)  next  to  the  word  eVent  speaks   to  the  climate  control  benefits  of  eVent  fabrics.

A  “degree  e”  icon  has  also  been  created,  and  three  new  icons  identify  the  Waterproof,  Windproof  and   Protective  categories  of  products  offered  by  eVent  fabrics.

“We  are  most  known  for  our  waterproof  technology,”  said  Chad  Kelly,  Global  Product  Manager  for  eVent   fabrics.  “But  we  believe  that  our  Windproof  and  Protective  lines  are  and  will  be  equally  important  to  our   customers.    These  new  symbols  give  us  a  platform  to  communicate  about  all  the  products  we  offer.”

This  year,  eVent  fabrics  implemented  a  framework  that  differentiates  its  air  permeable  Direct  VentingTM  (DV)   membrane  technologies  in  its  Waterproof  and  Windproof  categories.

(5)

The  Waterproof  category  includes  three  membrane  products.  DVAlpineTM  is  the  original  membrane

technology  introduced  in  1999.    DVStormTM  is  a  new  light  membrane  that  comes  to  market  for  Spring  2015  in   products  from  Rab  and  Montane.    DVLiteTM  is  for  packable,  lightweight  and  unlined,  2.5-‐layer  rainwear.

In  the  Windproof  category,  DVWindTM  blocks  more  than  99%  of  wind  and  has  high  air  permeability.

“eVent  fabrics  is  a  branded,  high-‐end  technology  with  a  broader  product  line  than  most  people  realize,”  said   Kelly.    “This  new,  strong  branding  approach  will  enhance  our  visibility  and  communications  about  everything   we  offer,”  said  Kelly.

FOR  IMMEDIATE  RELEASE

July  2,  2014

eVent  fabrics’  DVStorm™  membrane  technology  comes  to  market  in  Spring  ’15

with  new  products  from  Rab®  and  Montane®

OutDoor  Show  –  Hall  B4  Stand  310  –  July  10-‐14,  Friedrichshaven,  Germany   Outdoor  Retailer  Summer  Market  –  Booth  MR150B  –  August  6-‐9,  Salt  Lake  City,  Utah,  USA

eVent  fabrics’  newest  waterproof  and  air  permeable  membrane  technology—called  DVStorm™— makes  its  debut  in  Spring  2015  in  new  products  from  technical  outdoor  brands  Montane®  and  Rab®.       DVStorm  is  the  newest  Direct  Venting™  (DV)  membrane  from  eVent  fabrics,  which  introduced  its   original  air  permeable  and  waterproof  ePTFE  technology  in  1999.    Three-‐layer  laminates  made  with   the  DVStorm  membrane  use  15-‐denier  face  fabrics  and  10-‐denier  backers,  which  result  in  lighter   and  softer  finished  fabrics  for  rainwear.

Test  results  show  that  DVStorm  fabrics  are  approximately  20%  lighter  and  15%  more  breathable   than  fabrics  made  with  eVent's  original  membrane.    Internal  test  data  shows  the  waterproof  water   column  rating  is  10  meters  or  greater,  and  breathability  measures  31,000g/m2/24  hours  using  test   method  JIS  1099-‐B1.  The  high  breathability  of  DVStorm  fabrics  helps  enhance  the  comfort  of   rainwear  used  by  alpinists,  trekkers,  cyclists  and  other  active  outdoor  enthusiasts  who  generate   body  heat  and  moisture  while  facing  moderate  wet  weather  and  conditions.

“We  are  very  excited  about  the  lighter  weight  and  even  more  breathable  DVStorm  development   from  eVent  fabrics,”  said  Tim  Jasper,  Head  of  Design  at  Rab.  “Light  weight  and  high  performance  are   essential  for  the  conditions  in  which  our  new  Latok  shelters  and  Muztag  jacket  will  be  put  to  the   test.”

“At  Montane  we  always  strive  to  use  the  most  innovative,  lightweight  and  breathable  waterproof   fabric  technologies  available,  to  allow  our  athletes  to  go  further  and  faster  no  matter  the

been  able  to  utilize  the  hyper  breathable  and  super  lightweight  DVStorm  fabric  technology  into  our   new  Featherlite  Shell  Jacket,  which  will  be  ideal  for  lightweight,  fast  alpine  activity.”

New  Products  using  eVent  DVStorm  technology

For  Spring  ’15,  Montane  and  Rab  are  introducing  products  using  eVent  DVStorm  technology.

Rab  Muztag  Jacket

Rab  is  introducing  the  men’s  and  women’s  Muztag  Jacket,  a  light  alpine   shell  with  DVStorm  technology.  This  versatile,  streamlined  jacket  has  a   mid-‐range,  regular  fit  that  is  contoured  with  room  for  movement.    The   jacket  weighs  an  estimated  340  grams  (12  oz.)  for  the  men’s  jacket  and   285  grams  (10  oz.)  for  the  women’s  jacket.  Features  include  a  helmet   compatible,  wired  hood  with  roll  down  Velcro®  tab,  YKK  Aquaguard®   front  and  A-‐line  chest  pocket  zippers.

Rab  Latok  Tents:    Latok  Mountain  3,  Latok  Mountain  2,  Latok  Summit

In  2015,  Rab’s  Latok  series  of  tents  will  feature  eVent  DVStorm  which  are  ideal  for  2-‐3  people  on   high  mountain  expeditions,  polar  use,  or  summit  bids  on  technical  routes.    The  three  tents  take  full   advantage  of  light,  waterproof  eVent  DVStorm  fabric  with  single-‐layer  engineering  supported  by   internal  poles,  strong  construction  and  secure  pitching  systems.

Rab  Alpine  Bivi

Rab’s  Alpine  Bivi  takes  full  advantage  of  waterproof   DVStorm  technology,  with  essential  features  needed  for  a   one-‐person,  minimalist  shelter.  Lightweight  fabric  saves   weight  in  the  mummy-‐shaped  design,  and  the  basic

zippered  entry  with  external  storm  flap  simplifies  this  packable,  soloist  shelter.      Light  eVent   DVStorm  fabric  on  top  lets  out  heat  and  moisture  and  bathtub-‐design  bottom  of  coated  nylon  is

(8)

durable  and  snow  worthy.    Estimated  weight  is  470  grams  (16.5  oz.)  and  packed  size  is  30  x  12  cm   (12  x  5  in).

Montane®  Featherlite™  Shell  Jacket

Montane  has  pushed  the  boundaries  of  lightweight  alpine  garment  design  with   the  new  Featherlite®  Shell  Jacket,  weighing  in  at  a  mere  297.5  grams  (10.5  oz.)  for   a  men’s  size  medium.  This  fully  featured  mountain  shell  boasts  an  innovative   articulated  sleeve  design  to  allow  for  unrestricted  freedom  of  movement  while   keeping  the  jacket  in  place  during  big  reaches.  The  lightweight  innovation   continues  with  a  micro  trim  package,  fully  adjustable  helmet  compatible  hood   system,  as  well  as  YKK  AquaGuard®  zips  throughout,  two  high  level  hand  pockets   and  contrast  coloured  taped  seams  throughout  to  ensure  full  weather  protection.
