RESEARCH INTERESTS

The analysis of parent-child interactions in relation to the development and maintenance of childhood conduct problems and the analysis of early childhood disruptive behaviors as precursors of

externalizing disorders. Active lines of inquiry related to these analyses include the study of sensitivity and responsivity to environmental cues of punishment and reward as critical developmental processes, evaluation of variables which hinder the implementation and generalizability of child and parent training interventions, outcome evaluation of parent and therapist training approaches, the utility of functional analysis when applied to a variety of clinical phenomena, and examination of the relative effectiveness of behavioral intervention strategies.

• Principal Investigator (funding period 2005-2006). Managing developmentally-typical problem behaviors in early childhood: A preliminary investigation of strategies for preventing later conduct problems. Utah State University, College of Education, New Faculty Grant: awarded $11,800.
