What is a Degree Evaluation…?
How to obtain an Academic Transcript…?
A Degree Evaluation is a course plan of study based on the Major you have selected or can be changed to see other Degrees you may wish to pursue. You can select another Major to just see“What If” the course study requirement for that degree. This does not permanently make any changes in the system; it is only a tool. Every aspect of this degree plan may not apply to your situation. Degree plan guides may vary. Students can opt to be held to the degree requirements in their entry year catalog. As a first time Harding student you should keep this catalog for reference during your Harding college career.
At the end of each semester when professors are posting grades; the grades will show up first on the Degree Evaluation prior to being rolled into
the history allowing grades to be seen on an unofficial transcript.
Two things to remember when attempting to access your Degree Evaluation: 1. Always log in “The Term” as the term in which you are registered for courses (which may not be the present term date).
2. If you are unable to obtain all of the information, you can select the:
"What If" menu located in the bottom right hand side of the page and insert the Registered Term and Major selection.
The letters to the far right on a Degree Evaluation will have R (Registered or currently taking the class), H (Harding History), or T (Transferred Work). The Y (Yes) and N (No) to the far left will indicate that you have fulfilled or in the process of fulfilling the required course. If the N (No) is followed by a blue course subject, you can click on the blue subject course one time and a course description will appear. Arrow back (Upper Left) to return to your Degree Evaluation.
a. The first section of a Degree Evaluation will pertain to all courses required in your Major.
b. The second section will pertain to all courses required for your Minor (If you have declared a minor).
c. The third section will pertain to all of the Liberal Arts (General Education) requirements.
d. The fourth and fifth section will pertain to Lower and Upper Level Electives.
If you drop or add a class in the course of a semester; go to this site to verify that the process was completed to avoid your being charged and receiving a Failing grade in the course you intended to drop.
An unofficial Academic Transcript can be obtained in the same method. Should
you have any problems, let us know in the Registrar's Office and we can talk you through the process.
When you are emailing (Always use your Harding e-mail address), calling, or asking (in person) any questions concerning your academic history; always provide your full name and Harding “H” number.

Prior to visiting your advisor, print a Degree Evaluation to take with you. If you are coming to the Registrar’s Office with questions concerning your academic history; bring with you a printed copy of your Academic Transcript and Degree Evaluation with the areas in question highlighted.
If you have transfer work from schools other than Harding; you will need to access an Academic Transcript on Pipeline for course equations to Harding courses. It is your responsibility to get these transfer courses equated to Harding courses and inform the Registrar’s Office of any repeated courses that require previous entries to be included or excluded from your academic history / GPA.
If your Academic Transcript or Degree Evaluation page does not default to the correct Major, Minor, or Catalogue Entry Term; come to the Registrar’s Office (Administration Bldg) to submit a new “Student Information Form” with the correct information for entry into the data base.
Your Catalogue Term is your entry course requirement catalogue unless you change it to a more current catalogue. You have the option of remaining in your entry catalogue term, opting out for your graduation term catalogue, or any year in between up to eight years.
Your advisor is your best source contact person to answer questions concerning your major and required courses as well as instruction on using Pipeline to access records. Your advisor can also help you with accessing your Degree Evaluation online.
Courses Transferred to Harding…
1. Go online to Harding’s Pipeline and print an academic transcript. Directions are on online to do this through the Registrar’s site www.harding.edu/registrar for students. Only courses for which an official transcript has been received will be listed on the transcript.
Note: A request for an Official transcript can be made only by you, the student from any school previously
attended. An Official transcript will then be sent to the Registrar’s office for entry.
2. Review your transcript to see how transfer courses were equated. If courses were transferred / equated as an
Elective (Elec-) (000, 100.1, 200.1, etc) or transferred in differently than you felt they should have been; you should do the following:
a. Come to the Registrar’s Office to obtain a copy of your incoming transcript from the transferring school. Have a staff member check to see if the course(s) has been subsequently equated to a Harding course.
b. Using the copy of the incoming transcript from the other school, go online to the previous school’s website and print the course description for the course(s) that did not equate.
c. While at the Registrar’s Office, pick up and complete the forms for the various departments to submit for courses to be equated. Do not combine Departments or Schools on the same form.
d. You will need three items to present to the Department Chairman: The Registrar’s Office course transfer form, incoming course description, and a copy of the incoming transcript. All three items pertaining to that particular course should be highlighted in the appropriate areas needed for quick evaluation. It is
advantageous if you, the student present the request so that the department chairman can ask questions concerning the course(s) taken.
e. The department chairman will then complete his/her portion of the form with the equated Harding course. He/she will sign and date the form and will either mail the form back to the Registrar’s office or have you return the completed form to the Registrar’s office for entry.
3. Harding University is on the semester system; other schools may be on the quarter system and may not equate to Harding’s required hours per course. An example would be that it may take two courses at a quarter system school to equate to a single Harding semester course.
4. Courses may have been taken at another school to which Harding has no course equivalent. Example:
Oceanography, etc. These courses will remain Electives. (Elec-Oceanography, 100.1) Art or Music three hour
incoming courses will
no longer
be entered with the additional waiver for the other required Harding course.
5. Inform the Registrar’s office concerning courses you have taken again to replace a lower grade from another school or for Harding work that pre-dated summer 2003. The previous course will remain on the transcript; however, the lower grade will be EXCLUDED and the higher grade will be INCLUDED. The Excluded hours and grade will not be included in your GPA. This is not done automatically and will need to be brought to our attention.Official Transcript request:
You must submit your request one of three ways:
In person: By completing and signing a form in the Registrar’s Office…
Submit electronic www.harding.edu/registrar request under your own email ID for tracking…
Fax request (501) 279-4388, with all of the info necessary for processing….
Sara Van Winkle (501) 279-4328, will receive your request and process it the following work day.
Info to include; Full name, Social Security number, Date of Birth, Last year of Attendance and Name and Mailing
address to whom you wish the official transcript to be sent.
If you are having the official transcript sent directly to you and will be presenting it to a third party for acceptance, do not open the envelope. Failure to comply will result in the transcript being considered unofficial. There will be no charge for 1-10 transcripts. You will need to call to speak with Miss Sara Van Winkle for any cost totals.
In accordance with FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act), Harding University will send official transcripts via this electronic form to universities and colleges for admission purposes only.
Transferring Schools Official Transcripts:
A request for an Official Transcript can only be made by you, the student from any school previously attended. An Official transcript will then be sent to the Registrar’s office for entry. Any other form of a transcript will be considered unofficial and entries will not be made into Harding’s system. If an Official Transcripts is being sent to you, the student, the envelope must remain sealed when presented to the Registrar’s Office; failure to comply will render the transcript unofficial. Photo copies, emailed copies, or faxed copies of transcripts are considered unofficial and entries will not be made into the system.
Waiver:
A wavier simply means that you are not required to take a particular course. A course which has been waived will
never show up on a transcript of any kind. The only way to view a waived course is on your Degree Evaluation as a
course requirement which has been satisfied. You do however; receive the previously applied course, credit, and grade. Examples: Honors, Humanities, and Advanced Foreign Language.
Course Over-ride Request:
While registering for courses each semester, if you are given a restriction of any kind, over-ride request are made by you to the specific department chairmen’s office of the course you wish to take. Call that department for the over-ride and register online the same day the over-ride is placed on your behalf. Over-ride expires at midnight the same day it is placed.
Transfer Students Bible Requirements:
The only time a student is exempt from taking freshman bible BNEW 112 and BOLD 101 is when they transfer in as an upper classman at which time will began with upper level bible classes. These hours do not include CLEP or AP credit hours. If the student has less than 27 hours they are considered a freshman and will be required to take both courses during the course of their Harding academic career to graduate.
This includes students who transfer in the spring and take BOLD 101. They will be required to take BNEW 112 the next fall. Any divergence from this requirement must be approved by Ron Finley, Registrar, prior to registration for the following fall semester.

Dual Enrollment: If you are enrolled at Harding and wish to take an additional course(s) concurrently at another
university/college during the same semester; you must also submit the form after course approval to Dr. Larry Long, Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Just because you have gotten the course approved by the Registrar’s Office or a Department Chairman does not mean that you can transfer the course as Dual Enrollment. Failure to comply will result in course(s) not being accepted to Harding.
