Teaching Responsibilities

Courses taught previously at Penn State:

Educational Psychology 475. A three hour graduate level course in research design. The thrust of the course is to prepare graduate students in the area of research theory in order that they may conduct sophisticated educational research projects. This course includes microcomputer and mainframe computer applications along with computer literature searches.

School Psychology 556. A two hour graduate level course in advanced educational assessment. The goal of this course is to prepare students to give and evaluate assessment batteries that might be used in the public schools. An actuarial model is used throughout the course. Applications involving both microcomputer and mainframe computer programs to the assessment process are included.

Educational Psychology 400. A three hour graduate level graduate/undergraduate level introductory statistics course. I have taught this course once. The major topics covered in this course are: descriptive statistics. and introductory inferential techniques through one-factor analysis of variance.

Instructional Systems 497B. A one hour graduate/undergraduate level course involving applications of microcomputer graphics in educational programming. The major topics covered in the course are: interfacing graphics routines with BASIC programs, graphics tablets and light pens, picture packing and unpacking, character generators and shape tables. An introduction to arcade animation is also provided.

Current Teaching Assignment:

Educational Psychology 101. A three hour undergraduate course in introductory statistics and research design. The major thrust of the course is to prepare undergraduates to be able to read and understand educational research. This course also has a microcomputer component that exposes students to the use of statistical programs for solving calculations. Both Apple Macintosh, and IBM microcomputers may be used by the students.

Educational Psychology 507. A three hour graduate level statistics course which teaches regression, multiple regression, analysis of variance, multiple discriminant analysis, classification procedures, and factor analysis. The course has an emphasis on computer applications and the general linear model.

School Psychology 504. A practicum for school psychologists. My responsibilities include the supervision of graduate level clinicians in the evaluation of children referred to the CEDAR clinic for psychological services.
