Creative Director and Project Manager Job Description
My role as creative director and project manager at UNIVERSALD Inc. includes managing and building production teams which include motion graphics, video, 3D animation and web developers. I work closely with each department’s director of development and artists on every production. I oversee productions as a consultant and service provider to determine production manpower, creative direction, proposal reviews, information technology, growth plans, and business development.
Consultation and creative direction primarily consists of motion graphics, video, animation, design and web development productions. I have personally managed 70 – 100 projects in various stages of development at one time. I am the primary project manager for the bulk of production work that is contracted through the studio. I lead and coordinate multiple conference calls, establish production cycles, client and team asset requirements, hardware and software allocation, as well as establish the appropriate team members for each production. An important part of this job also includes acting as a liaison between the client, sales team and production staff, to ensure project scope, time, budget and positive relationships are maintained throughout the duration of the entire production cycle.
As a creative director I work with our staff writers, artists, clients, marketing and sales members. I assist in developing client messaging, visual and interactive treatments for multiple productions. This includes both the creation, management and review of scripts, user interface designs, print advertisements, motion graphic designs, 2D animation, 3D models, 3D animation, compositing, character designs, storyboards, animatics, directing both video and audio recording sessions, casting, audio and video editing, dvd authoring, video encoding, html, css, flash web coding implementation review and collaborative database architecture design. I am also responsible for screening, hiring, reallocating, terminating, contractors, staff members and outsourcing partners.
As a project manager I utilize multiple project management software packages including, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Project and 37 Signals on line project management software called Basecamp. I work very closely with our production staff, marketing and sales members, to determine production timelines, schedules, shot lists, software and hardware requirements, individual project asset lists and costs associated with each production. Each job title’s procedure manual was converted to scripts, and trivia questions were established based on each script’s content. Each presentation was included on an interactive disc developed in Flash.

The video production included: storyboarding, 3D animation, motion graphics, green screen video production, and photography.
