Find a selection of materials (i.e tin foil, toilet roll, old t-shirt or cloth, sponge, a nappy or anything else you can find). Observe what happens when you place one drop of water on it at a time? Does it soak into the material or does it sit on the top of material? Think carefully about why do we need a sponge to be more absorbent than tin foil?
