THIS WEEK

The Terriers started the fourth week of the season with a game against Presbyterian College on Wednesday afternoon and then will play a three-game series against Gardner-Webb ... The Terriers were defeated 11-6 by the Blue Hose on Wednesday ... The Terriers have begun the 2015 season with a 9-4 record, including wins over Boston College and Pittsburgh from the ACC ... Wofford was 32-28 overall and 12-14 in the Southern Conference last season ... Gardner-Webb was 24-31 overall in 2014 and were 11-15 in the Big South to finish tenth ... The Runnin’ Bulldogs are 10-2 this season, including series sweeps of Cornell and Valparaiso and losses to James Madison and Holy Cross ... Wofford holds a 23-14 lead in the series against Gardner-Webb, including a pair of midweek wins in 2014 ... Wofford starters will be RHP Matt Milburn (2-0, 2.37 ERA) on Friday, RHP Luke Leftwich (2-0, 3.12 ERA) on Saturday, with freshman LHP Adam Scott (1-0, 3.18 ERA) on Sunday afternoon.

ABOUT WOFFORD

In the 2015 season, the Wofford baseball team returns five starters in the field along with 13 pitchers ... Overall 25 players return to the team from the 2014 season with 10 newcomers ... This is the eighth season under the direction of head coach Todd Interdonato ... Leading the team are five seniors: Connell Anderson, Conor Clancey, Matthew Pelt, James Plaisted, and Matthew Ramsay ... RHP Matthew Milburn was named to the Preseason All-Southern Conference team second team as a starting pitcher, while James Plaisted was named to the second team in the outfield ... Junior RHP Matt Milburn is the top returning starting pitcher with a 4-6 record and a 3.95 ERA last season ... Junior RHP Will Stillman led the team with a 1.55 ERA and had four saves ... Junior infielder Alec Paradowski is the top returning hitter with a .280 average last season ... Senior outfielder Matt Ramsay had a .279 batting average, while senior outfielder/infielder James Plaisted batted .250 and led the team with 42 RBIs ... Senior RHP Connell Anderson had a 4.20 ERA in 13 starts ... Junior RHP Luke Leftwich had 78 strikeouts in 14 starts, while sophomore RHP Matt Milburn started 14 games with a 3.95 ERA .

HEAD COACH TODD INTERDONATO

Wofford head coach Todd Interdonato (UNC Asheville ‘00) enters his eighth season as head coach after spending two seasons as an assistant with the Terriers. After graduating from UNC Asheville, he was an assistant coach at his alma mater for one season. He spent two years at Gardner-Webb as an assistant coach and earned his MBA. In 2005 he was at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas as an assistant coach. Interdonato joined the Terriers as an assistant for the 2006 season. With 163 career wins, he is second all-time among Wofford baseball coaches in that category.

2015 SOCON PRESEASON HONORS

Junior Matt Milburn and senior James Plaisted were named to the Preseason All-Southern Conference team as selected by the coaches. Milburn is second team as a starting pitcher and Plaisted is second team in the outfield. In the preseason polls that were also released, the Terriers were picked to finish tied for seventh by the coaches and eighth by the media.

LAST YEAR AGAINST GARDNER-WEBB

Last season the Terriers won both games played against Gardner-Webb. On February 19, Wofford earned a 7-6 win over Gardner-Webb at Russell C. King Field. The Terriers scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead and held on for the victory. The Terriers were led by Eric Brenk with three hits and two RBIs, while Kody Ruedisili had two hits and three RBIs in his first career game. The Runnin’ Bulldogs had three hits and three RBIs from Scott Johnson. Wofford pitcher John Caskey threw two innings and allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts in his first career start. Gardner-Webb starter Brad Haymes went three innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits, along with six strikeouts. On March 26, Wofford came away with a 7-4 win over Gardner-Webb at John Henry Moss Stadium. The Terriers had a 5-0 lead before the Runnin’ Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Wofford tacked on two runs in the top of the ninth to secure the victory. The Terriers were led by Matt Kaskow with three hits and two RBIs, while Alec Paradowski added two RBIs. J.J. Nazzaro had three RBIs for the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Wofford pitcher Jordan Accetta started and went five innings without allowing a run on five hits. Gardner-Webb starter Beau Hilton went two innings and allowed two runs on one hit with one strikeout. Brad Haymes threw three innings and gave up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

THE 2014 SEASON

The Terriers put together one of the best seasons in school history in 2014 ... Wofford was 32-28 overall and 12-14 in the Southern Conference ... Wofford finished tied for fifth in the conference standings with Appalachian State ... The Mountaineers won the regular

He worked out of his lone jam with a strikeout and a lineout to preserve the shutout. The complete-game shutout was the first for a Wofford pitcher since Brandon Yarusi blanked Furman 5-0 on April 14, 2013. This was the first SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor since Yarusi earned it for that performance against Furman in 2013.

LAST YEAR AGAINST THE SOCON

Wofford was 12-14 in Southern Conference games this season, the second most league wins in school history. The Terriers were 9-6 at home and 3-8 on the road. Against SoCon opponents, the Terriers won series against Georgia Southern (2-1), The Citadel (2-1), UNCG (3-0), and Samford (2-1). Wofford lost series to Davidson (1-2), Western Carolina (0-3), Appalachian State (1-2), Elon (1-2), and Furman (0-2).

SOCON PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Adam Scott was named the Southern Conference pitcher of the week for all games Feb. 23 to March 1. The selections are made by the league office. Making only his third career start, freshman Scott hurled a complete-game shutout over Harvard on Sunday, limiting the Crimson to just three hits and two walks on 105 pitches. TERRIERS IN THE 2014 NATIONAL STATS

In the final national rankings, Wofford was first in stolen bases and first in stolen bases per game ... The team was 28th in bases on balls and 56th in hit by pitch ... They were 21st in home runs with 40, 122nd in doubles, and 168th in on base percentage ... The pitching staff was seventh in strikeouts per nine innings and 113th in strikeout-to-walk ratio ... Seth Neely was 75th in bases on balls and 44th in home runs ... James Plaisted was 127th in home runs ... In stolen bases, Josh Hyman (37th), Seth Neely (53rd), Eric Brenk (53rd), and Demetrius Jennings (124th) were all in the top 125 ... Eric Eck was 24th in the nation with twelve saves ... Matthew Milburn was 126th in strikeouts ... Luke Leftwich was 119th in strikeouts and 47th in strikeouts per nine innings ... 2014 NEW FACES

In the 2014 season, several new faces made an impact. Freshman catcher Carson Waln started 15 games, while freshman outfielder Kody Ruedisili had 27 starts. Freshman infielder Dylan May played in 34 games with 14 starts, while junior transfer Conor Clancey had 55 starts at first base. Freshman pitchers Jordan Accetta, Quintin Pile, Spencer Kulman, Merritt Huber, Elliot Lance, John Caskey, and Chris Sheehan all threw at least three innings. Accetta has six starts and a 3-3 record. Pile missed most of the season due to injury.

2015 NEW FACES

Just two weeks into the 2015 season and several freshman have seen time on the field for the Terriers. Pitcher Adam Scott has three starts and has a 3.18 ERA. Mack Nathanson has 12 starts, eight as the designated hitter and four at catcher. Cody Miller, McClain Bradley, Max McDougald, Trace Witt, and Alex Malsch have all played as well.

HITTING THE LONG BALL

After hitting only 17 home runs during the 2013 season, the Terriers more than doubled that to 40 last season. Wofford was 21st in the nation and fifth in the SoCon in home runs. Seth Neely led the team with ten, while James Plaisted had seven.

EXTRA BASES

Wofford had a total of 488 hits last season, with 134 going for extra bases. There were 89 doubles, five triples, and 40 home runs. Overall, 27.5% of the hits were for extra bases. In 2013, the Terriers had 474 hits, with 108 for extra bases, for a 22.7% mark.

MORE EXTRA BASES

Wofford has a total of 110 hits so far this year, with 40 going for extra bases. There are 27 doubles, four triples, and 9 home runs. Overall, 36.3% of the hits are for extra bases.

ANOTHER INNING

In the 2014 season, Wofford played in five extra inning games with a 2-3 record in those games. All the extra inning games went 10 innings.

HYMAN WITH THE CYCLE

On February 19, 2013 at ETSU, Josh Hyman had a home run in his first at bat. His second plate appearance was a triple. He had a single in his third at-bat. In the fourth time at the plate, he hit a ball just over third base for a double - and the cycle. It was the first cycle since Kyle Behrendt accomplished the feat on 4/24/10

at UNCG. Hyman added another single and was 5-of-5 on the day. The five hits in a single game tied the Wofford school record.

THE DAVIDSON WIN

At Davidson on March 22, 2014, the Terriers plated 20 runs on 16 hits to earn a 20-7 victory. The 20 runs by Wofford were the most in a game last season and the most since 2009. The 20 runs were the most in a Southern Conference contest since scoring 25 against Davidson in 2006.

THE UNCG SWEEP

Wofford came from behind in three straight games to sweep UNCG on May 9-11, 2014. The sweep was the first ever over UNCG and it was the first sweep of a SoCon opponent since 2011 against Davidson.

CUTTING THE RUN DIFFERENTIAL

In Southern Conference games in 2012, the negative run differ-ential between Wofford and the opponents was only 44 runs (131 to 175). This was a huge improvement over past seasons: 89 in 2011, 68 in 2010, 136 in 2009, and 128 in 2008. The run differential in SoCon games in 2013 was 50 runs (191 to 141), while in 2014 it was only 32 (136 to 168).

NCAA OPPONENTS

In 2014, Wofford faced three opponents that reached the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The Terriers played a total of six games against teams that advanced, including three against SoCon opponent Georgia Southern. Wofford also faced South Carolina for one game and Old Dominion for a pair.

VANDERBILT

This season, Wofford will play two games at Vanderbilt, which won the 2014 College World Series. The head coach of the Com-modores, Tim Corbin, was an assistant coach for the Terriers in 1987 under Mark Line. Wofford will also play South Carolina and Clemson who reached the NCAA Tournament in 2014.

RECORD BREAKERS

Overall in 2014 the team set new single season marks for wins (32), walks received (248), sacrifice flies (28), hit by pitch (74), strikeouts (496), and fielding percentage (.966). In addition, Will Stillman set the mark for relief appearances with 34. REACHING 100 HITS

Senior James Plaisted and junior Alec Paradowski each reached the 100 career hit mark last season. Plaisted currently has 128 hits, while Paradowski stands at 120 hits. Other Terriers who are close to the mark include senior Matt Ramsay (95), senior Matthew Pelt (77), and junior Demetrius Jennings (58).

STILLMAN’S 2014 SEASON

Pitcher Will Stillman set a new school record for appearances in a single season with 34, topping the previous mark of 31. He posted a 5-2 record with four saves. In his 46.1 innings on the mound, he allowed just 21 hits and 16 runs, 8 of which were earned. He struck out 60 batters to only 26 walks with an opponent’s batting average of .135. His ERA of 1.55 was the second-lowest in school history.

Junior Will Stillman is tied for 10th in school history with 61 career relief appearances, including 21 in 2013 and 34 in 2014. Eric Eck set the school record for relief appearances last season with 90 total. Stillman is also 19th in total career appearances.

The SoCon Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who had a 3.0 grade point average for the academic year. Several Terriers have relatives that played professional baseball. Freshman pitcher Luke Leftwich’s father pitched for the Angels and his grandfather pitched for the Tigers and Indians ... James Plaisted’s uncle played for the Phillies and Yankees ... Matthew Pelt’s cousin spent two years with the Cardinals organization.

Several Terriers have birthdays during the season, including Max McDougald (March 22), John Caskey (February 28), Spencer Kulman (March 29), Chris Sheehan (March 15), and Carson Waln (March 17).

STEALING BASES

As a team, the Terriers stole 85 bases in 2011, which was sixth in the SoCon. Wofford was 86-of-125 on stolen bases in 2012 which was tied for second in the SoCon. Wofford stole a league-high 163 bases at the end of the 2013 regular season. The team record for

stolen bases in a season was previously 109 set in 1985. Wofford had 153 steals in 2014 to lead the SoCon and nation.

TEAM STRIKEOUTS

For each of the past three seasons, the Wofford pitching staff has set new school records for strikeouts in a season. The previous record was 390 set in 2008 in 496.2 innings. In 2012, the Terriers fanned 416 batters in 481.1 innings. In 2013, the pitching staff broke the record with 448 strikeouts in 480.0 innings. The record was broken again in 2014 with 496 in 533.1 innings.

CORNELY THE BRAVE

Pitcher John Cornely was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 15th round of the MLB Draft on June 7, 2011. Cornely was the 476th overall pick in the draft. He played the 2013 season with Lynchburg in High A and also was in the Arizona Fall League. In 2015 he is expected to start the season with the Mississippi Braves in the Double-A Southern League.

OTHERS IN THE PROS

Last season, Brandon Waring and Alex Wilson also played professionally. Wilson retired to attend medical school, while Waring ended his eight-year minor league career. Waring had a .250 career batting average and played two seasons at the AAA level. Michael Gilmartin and J.D. Osborne are currently free agents and expect to play in 2015.

CREDENTIALS

Requests for working media credentials should be made to Brent Williamson, Assistant Athletic Director of Media Reations, Wofford College, 429 N. Church Street, Spar-tanburg, SC 29303. Requests should be made one week in advance. Children, spouses, pets and cheering are not allowed in the press box.

INTERVIEWS

All interviews with members of the team during the season must be arranged through the Athletic Media Relations Office. Please call ahead and allow 24 hours to set up inter-views with players. Arrangements will be made for telephone and in-person interviews at a time that is mutually agreeable to the reporter/broadcaster and the student-athlete. The best time to call Coach Interdonato is in the morning. Any television crews wishing to tape an interview with Coach Interdonato may do so daily before practice. Please call ahead to allow an office representative to help facilitate the interview.

PARKING

Parking for all members of the working media for Ter-rier home baseball games can be found in the Marsh Hall parking lot.

INTERVIEWS

Student-athletes are available on the field immediately following the game. Coach Interdonato will meet with the media following each game on the field. During a double-header, no student-athletes may be interviewed between games, with the exception of the starting pitcher of the first game.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

Photo passes for newspaper photographers and photogra-phers on assignment are available from the athletic media relations office. Photographers will not be allowed on the field during the game.

PRESSBOX SERVICES

Members of the media will be provided with game pro-grams, flip cards, current statistics and pregame notes prior to the start of the game. Statistical summaries will include final box score. There is limited wireless access at King Field. After the radio broadcast teams have completed their broadcasts, there are phone lines available as well. A photocopier and a fax machine are also available inside the Richardson Building.
