It’s true, “necessity is the mother of invention” and QuickDrain™ and QuickVac™ are proof. Backyard Innovations Company, Ltd., a Canadian company founded in 1999, has been supplying innovative products to the pool and spa industry for over fourteen years. During this time we have been very successful at developing strategic relationships with distributors, manufacturers, and retailers throughout the US and Canadian marketplace.

QuickDrain™ was officially launched into the Canadian market at the 1999 NSPI Pool & Spa Show in Toronto. Canadian retailers were introduced to the fast, easy and economical way to drain and vacuum hot tubs, spas and above ground pools and pool covers. Expensive sump pumps, traditionally used in the past, now find themselves competing with a new, economical product that drains as fast, but offers the added value of “vacuuming as it drains”.

With the success of this existing product, our customers asked us to create a “better spot vacuum”. So, we applied the same, patented technology and developed QuickVac™. With its product launch at the 2003 Pool & Spa Expo in New Orleans, it’s quickly becoming the best spot vacuum on the market. It’s simply the best way to vacuum and clean splasher pools, hot tubs and spas.

The 2003 Pool & Spa Expo was our first opportunity to unveil and demonstrate our products to an international audience and the interest and response from the North American and international pool and spa community was overwhelming. Our products are now distributed throughout Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.

We continue to work with our customers and consumers in the development of new products. At this time we are working on the development of several new products designed to meet the needs that our

customers and consumers have identified.

QuickDrain was designed as a better way to drain hot tubs and spas. Hot tub owners have to drain their tubs every 6 to 8 weeks. Prior to QuickDrain this was a lengthy, frustrating process, particularly in the cold winter months.

All hot tub’s have drains. The problem is that they tend to be very slow, with a typical tub taking up to 3 hours to drain and as it drains, any debris in the water tends to settle in the seats and floor forcing the owner to crawl in and “towel it out”. A frustrating job on a cold winter day.
