11 December 2015
We are pleased to enclose the final programme of activities related to the High-Level Meeting for the ten-
year review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The programme includes events from Monday 14 December to Thursday 17 December, with the plenary held on the 15th and 16th
We are also pleased to announce the panelists for the high-level WSIS welcoming event, open to all WSIS
delegates and UN badge-holders. Featuring a moderated, conversational panel, the event will take plaèe from 9 to 9:45 am in the Trusteeship Council Chamber and provide perspectives on issues raised during the
review, including ICT development applications, the digital divide, internet governance, human rights, and
security. As a snapshot of the review, and with such distinguished voices, we hope very much that all WSlS
delegates will attend. The panelists are:
Eric Schmidt, Chairman of Google
Fadi Chehadé, President and CEO of ICANN
HE Günther H. Oettinger, European Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society
Mitchell Baker, Chair of Mozilla Foundation
HE Siyabonga Cwele, Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services, South Africa We would also highlight that an invitation to the WSIS reception
-
hosted by our missions in the UN Delegates' Dining Room from 5:15 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday 15 December-
was dispatched on Wednesday, for all Heads of Delegations, Permanent Representatives, and experts. Please join us to celebrate six months (and ten years) of hard work.
Detailed information on the programme of activities, including speakers and concept notes, can be found at http://unpan3.un.org/wsislo/GA-High-Level-Meeting/Side-Events. As noted in our previous letter, the UN
Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) is organizing events on the 16th and 17th While
the meetings are separate from WSIS, as delineated in the programme, they provide an opportune complement, addressing issues raised in the review.
We look forward to seeing you next week, especially at the welcome event and reception on the 15th,
