Executive Summary

This deliverable accompanies the prototype of the COIN Generic Service Platform (GSP). The prototype includes 4 main assets of the COIN Service Platform (namely, the reference implementation of Semantically enabled Service-oriented Architecture, the Digital Business Ecosystem platform, Multi-Agent framework, and the TrustCoM platform). References to single factsheet descriptions are reported in the deliverable.

COIN Consortium Dissemination: PUBLIC 5/9 1 Introduction

COIN BSP prototype is an extension the current SESA reference implementation, which is currently under development in UIBK according to the design specification by the OASIS SEE Committee1.

The COIN BSP prototype presented in this document reflects the design specifications introduced in D3.1.1. The BSP is seen as major outcome of WP3.1, i.e. it represents the integration of existing projects’ assets with the final goal to make SESA more secure, scalable and intelligent. The COIN GSP represents a step forward, aiming at integrating BSP and innovative components as outcomes of following SP 3 work packages, thus achieving the final vision.

1.1 Scope of the deliverable

This deliverable accompanies the COIN Baseline Service Platform prototype for providing enterprises and mainly SMEs with services for improving their collaboration and interoperability, under the future Software as a Service-Utility (SaaS-U) paradigm. Its goal is to provide quick reference for documentation needed to install and run the COIN GSP. The architecture defined in D3.1.1 builds upon previous outstanding project results such as WSMX for the core of the platform, TrustCoM for trust and security in SOA, DBE for evolutionary and decentralized environment, and DBI Agents for advanced intelligent service composition and negotiation. Hence, the deliverable report references to each single prototype contributing to the overall GSP.

1.2 Organization of the deliverable

This document is organized as follows:

• Chapter 2 provides an overview of the GSP architecture defined in D3.1.1.

• Chapter 3 provides an overview of prototypes and references to related annexes.

• Finally in Chapter 4 we report final conclusion.

2 Overview of the Baseline Service Platform Architecture

In this section we are going to give an overview of the overall architecture of the COIN Baseline Service Platform (BSP). Figure 1 presents a high level picture of the whole COIN BSP architecture. The core part of the architecture is an extended SESA implementation based on WSMX that provide basic functionalities of the platform such as service discovery and execution. The platform will provide evolutionary and distributed maintenance of models through a decentralized registry and repository derived from DBE experience. The WSMX middleware communicates with the registries and repositories through an ad hoc implementation of its Resource manager as showed in Figure 1. For more detail refers to D3.1.1.

COIN Consortium Dissemination: PUBLIC 7/9 3 Implementation of the Baseline Service Platform

The Generic Service Platform is composed by 4 main prototypes:

• The Generic Service Platform Prototype (based on an extension of WSMX)

• The Distributed Model Repository Prototype (based on an extension of DBE platform)

• The Agent-Based Service Composition Prototype (based on an extension of DBI Agents)

• The Security Gateway Prototype (based on an extension of Trustcom platform)

Each prototype is accompanied with a detailed factsheets including the following information: 1. Avaibility and contacts: information on where the prototype is stored and who are the

responsible.

2. Alignment with COIN: how the prototype is positioned in the overall COIN vision, and details on his architecture.

3. Purpose and Functionality: a summary of functionalities provided by the prototype. 4. Requirements: a summary of technical requirements needed to run the prototype. 5. Licensing: information on the license terms for the prototypes

6. Installation and Usage: a description of the installation procedure. For further information refers directly to the Annexes:

• The Generic Service Platform Factsheet [Annex I]

• The Distributed Model Repository Factsheet [Annex II]

• The Agent-Based Service Composition Factsheet [Annex III]

4 Conclusions

This deliverable provides references for the prototypes of the COIN Baseline Service Platform (BSP). The platform is based on Semantically Enabled Service Oriented Architecture (SESA), with extensions from Software Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, Trust and Security systems and Digital Business Ecosystems. A detailed survey of the state-of-the-art has been carried out for Semantic Web Services, Agents, Security as well as Evolutionary Platforms.
