REASON

The snap rings that secure the seat pan tilt pivot block fitting on the Millennium crew seats may become disconnected and allow the front of the seat pan to fall under certain conditions.

DESCRIPTION

This service letter transmits Millennium Service Bulletin SB2050-25-20-02 Model 2050 Seating System: Seat Pan Tilt Snap Ring Replacement, Revision B which provides instructions to replace the seat pan tilt snap rings.

COMPLIANCE

RECOMMENDED. This service document should be accomplished at the next scheduled maintenance period or inspection.

A service document published by Textron Aviation may be recorded ascompletedin an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied:

1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service document, including the intent therein.

2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service document kit. Only with written authorization from Textron Aviation can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts.

3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service document only as approved and published.

4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service document only to aircraft serial numbers identified in theEffectivitysection of the document.

5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations.

No individual or corporate organization other than Textron Aviation is authorized to make or apply any changes to a Textron Aviation-issued service document or flight manual supplement without prior written consent from Textron Aviation.

Textron Aviation is not responsible for the quality of maintenance performed to comply with this document, unless the maintenance is accomplished at a Textron Aviation-owned Service Center.

PLANNING INFORMATION

A. Effectivity, Eligibility

(1) This service bulletin (SB) applies to the Millennium Concepts Model 2050 crew seating system. The seats eligible for this modification are identified by the following serial numbers:

 C000001 thru C000315 B. Summary and Purpose

(1) Summary: The snap ring which secures the seat pan tilt pivot block fitting, may become disconnected and allow the front of the seat pan to drop under certain conditions.

(2) Purpose: This service bulletin replaces the original snap ring with a new design snap ring, to prevent it from separating from the groove.

(3) Execution: The service bulletin work is recommended to be conducted after removal of the seats from the aircraft.

C. Compliance

(1) Compliance with this service bulletin is recommended. This is required to ensure the seats remain fully operable and in compliance with the TSO. (2) Compliance is recommended at the following times, as applicable:

 On condition; or

 At the next scheduled removal of the seats, but not to exceed 1 year from date of this SB

 Articles in stock or work in progress (WIP) should be reworked prior to delivery

(3) The SB is approved under the authority of the TSO holder. The design configuration is also TSO approved.

D. Airworthiness Directives

There are no airworthiness directives (AD) associated with this service bulletin. The initial released as well as the current revision B have been coordinated with the FAA ACO.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Modifications should only be carried out by a mechanic/technician experienced with aircraft mechanical assemblies.

It is recommended that the mechanic / technician review the entire service bulletin before commencing with the modification.

3.1.1 Snap Ring Location:

A. The subject snap rings are located under the front of the seat pan. There is one on each side. See Figure 3.1 and Figure 3.2 below which identify the snap ring.

3.1.2 Snap Ring Replacement Procedures:

A. It may be possible to replace the snap ring with the seat installed in the aircraft; however, access will be improved if this work is performed outside the airplane (i.e. seat not installed).

B. Remove the old snap ring (VH-112-S02) out of the groove by using a small flat head screwdriver and follow the steps in Figure 3.3 to work the ring out of actuator shaft.

C. Install a new Snap Ring (VHL-120-X-S02) in the reverse method used to remove the old snap ring.

D. Check the installation by pulling firmly inboard on the Pivot Block or Actuator.

3.1.3 Modification ID Label Installation Procedures:

A. Install 9000-1130008-001 Modification ID Label adjacent to the existing TSO ID label approximately as shown in Figure 2.3 and apply the 9000-1130008-003 Protective film over the new label, approximately centered.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. The service bulletin must be carried out under the direction of a quality assurance department.

B. Upon completion of this service bulletin, approval for release per 14 CFR 43.5 shall be appropriately documented.

C. The Service Bulletin Execution Form must be completed, signed and returned to Millennium when the Return to Service Approval has been completed.
