Established in 1913, Homestead is known for its historic contribution to the development of South Florida as a major hub for Henry Flagler’s railroad. The Downtown Historic District
ENJOY A STROLL THROUGH SOUTH FLORIDA’S BEGINNINGS Comprised of 11 blocks and 73 buildings, the Homestead Historic District was awarded a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Homestead is one of only four districts in South Florida to receive a National District

Historic Town Hall was the first municipal building in Homestead and served as an integral part of the community both politically and socially. Today it acts as the Historic Town Hall Museum where you’ll learn all about our fascinating history.
Winter through Spring, Homestead invites its residents, neighbors and visitors to explore Everglades and Biscayne National Parks, as well as Homestead Bayfront Park with a free guided trolley ride from Historic Downtown Homestead.
This pioneer program is the first of its kind to offer free transportation to the public to some of Florida’s major National Parks.

Originally built in 1921, the recently revived Seminole Theatre is the heart and soul of Downtown Homestead. After suffering a near total loss as a result of Hurricane Andrew, Homestead’s citizens embarked on a renovation effort that would span decades.
On October 28, 2015 the curtain finally rose on the Seminole Theatre stage.
With more than 85,000 visitors since opening in 2015, the Art Deco inspired community theatre is South Dade’s crown jewel for the performing arts featuring emerging local, national, and international artists hosting a variety of acts ranging from concerts to comedy shows.

The Cybrarium is also home to exceptional monthly programs that are available to attend for free.
