Personal Insights Guide

Welcome to your Personal Insights Guide.

Use this Guide to help you identify hidden activities and outcomes that you may be ignoring or not considering, and which if completed would benefit yourself or others.

We recommend you print this Guide or use a blank piece of paper to capture your exercise answers.

Identifying Potential Areas of Interest

The first thing to note is that on Ideas-Shared, you have the ability, to post 18 different activity types, in 18 parent categories, with more 400 top level key words, across 227 countries and regions in the world and beyond. That’s millions of combinations!

The 18 top-level categories are the Arts, Business, Computing, Global Issues, Health, Home

Selecting Activities & Desired Outcomes

Once you have at least one keyword ticked, the next thing to do is determine if there is an opportunity for you to progress it.

Exercise 2: Take each previously ticked keyword in turn, then run each through the following list of activities, desired outcomes, and value/benefit shown below.

Start by considering whether you want to undertake any of the Activities listed in column one. (Undertaking an activity in column one means ‘pursuing an outcome option in column two. Achieving this would deliver the value and benefit outlined in column three).

Example: Let’s assume you select ‘Covid-19’ as the keyword. Run through the below list and identify an ‘Idea’ that you’ve been thinking about. As you consider, identify possible

outcomes that could be achieved, along with possible benefits. (Note that the last column are examples only, you can choose to deliver whatever value and benefit you like).

Identify Activity Priority and Pillar

To complete your Personal Insights Guide, it’s time to identify Priorities and Pillars as shown in exercise 3 and 4.

Exercise 3: Select a Priority from the following list for each of the previously selected activities:

• Priority 1: Important & Urgent Activity/Tasks – do these immediately

• Priority 2: Important but Not Urgent Activity/Tasks – schedule these tasks

• Priority 3: Not Important but Urgent Activity/Tasks – delegate these tasks

• Priority 4: Not Important and Not Urgent Activity/Tasks – eliminate these tasks

And finally:

Exercise 4: Select a Pillar for each of the previously selected activities:

• Box 1: The Self Box – You want to change and improve yourself

• Box 2: The Other Person Box – You want to change and improve other people

• Box 3: The Organisation Box – You want to change and improve organisations (includes Charities, Schools, Clubs, Special Interest Groups, Businesses, etc.)

• Box 4: The Systemic Box – You want to change and improve the systemic nature of our world includes Social, Political, Environmental topics etc.)
