MEMORIAL DAY

With Memorial Day, we mark the unofficial start to the summer season. Hooray! I remember my great-grandmother would always say that we could wear white shoes and pants from Memorial Day until Labor Day. I am not sure why she told me this because I never owned a pair of white shoes or pants, but you can now wear them if you own them. It is funny the things you remember from deceased loved ones.

As we celebrate Memorial Day, we remember in our prayers those men and women who died while serv- ing in the U.S. military. We give thanks to God for their courage and willingness to sacrifice so much for our Country's freedom.

UPCOMING DIACONATE ORDINATION

As June quickly approaches, we are blessed to celebrate the ordination to the diaconate of Christopher Pujol. Christopher is from Mount Saint Peter Parish in New Kensington. He is currently studying at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. He will be ordained a deacon at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on June 5 at 10:00 AM. All are welcome to attend. He will serve this summer for ten weeks at the Catholic Churches in Uniontown. After completing a ten-week assignment there, he will return to Philadelphia for one final year of academic work. Next summer, God willing, Christopher will return to the Diocese of Greensburg to be ordained a priest.

MONDAY MASS

Beginning June 7, there will be no Monday morning Mass. I will take Mondays as my day off.

The Mass intentions that were scheduled for Mondays were transferred to another day. I appreciate the flexibility of those affected by this change in your willingness to move your Mass intentions to another day.

CONFIRMATIONS

We are pleased to congratulate Zander Cramer, Bailie Mericho, Riley DeNinno, and Samantha Pronko who were confirmed and fully initiated at the 10:00 a.m. Mass last weekend. Please keep these children in your prayers and may God bless you.

ADORATION

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. until 7:50 a.m. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed before morning Mass. Everyone is welcome to join us for the First Friday devotion and time of prayer.

PARISH OFFICE CLOSED

In commemoration of Memorial Day, the Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 31, 2021. On behalf of Father Bandura and staff of Saint James Parish, we wish everyone a safe and blessed holiday.

THANK YOU

To my Saint James family and friends and to Father Bandura for all the prayers and cards from my recent stay in the hospital and on my road to recovery.

Love & prayers, Damon Disciascio

THANK YOU

Dear Father Bandura and to my Saint James family and friends,

My heart is full of thankfulness for all the prayers, cards, gifts and food that I have received from so many of you. The surgeon was very pleased with the outcome of the operation. The doctor said my bones are good and it is just the arthritis. I am now going to outpatient therapy to build up my strength. I am hoping to see all of you soon.

Once again, thank you so much. God Bless and much love.

Loretta Oken
