Organizational Overview
CMMB is a leading faith-based NGO focused exclusively on global health care for the world’s poor, by building healthy, sustainable communities through community engagement and partnerships. Now entering its second century, CMMB is committed to integrating and focusing its programming around saving the lives of children and mothers by concentrating on leading causes of mortality in targeted communities.
Building around a new CHAMPS (CHildren And Mother PartnershipS) model, CMMB will work at both the
community and clinical levels in these targeted communities to strengthen health services and address the leading causes of maternal and child death. CMMB has committed to develop 16 CHAMPS sites by 2020, incorporating at least 3 in Haiti, Kenya, Peru, South Sudan, and Zambia. In addition, CMMB will expand its volunteer program to provide medical and business expertise for community development, and will engage with the pharmaceutical industry to help meet the needs of CHAMPS communities and in other areas of need.

Department Summary
The Finance, Administration and Information Technology Department is responsible for the provision of cross-cutting, client-focused services in the areas of accounting, budget, treasury, information technology,
administration, risk management and compliance. These strategic, operational, knowledge and accountability-based services add significant value to the successful fulfillment of CMMB’s global strategy.
Job Summary
The Director of Accounting and Finance, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, is accountable for the organization’s financial, budgeting and accounting functions, and thus ensures the accurate, complete and timely recording, monitoring and reporting of the organization’s financial transactions and related information streams. The role is responsible for the accounting and reporting of the NY Office operating activities and the

financial statement consolidation of all of CMMB’s operations on a global basis, assuming a dotted line
relationship with country-level accounting and finance staff. This position has direct reports and is based in New York, NY. This role is expected to lead both strategically and be willing to engage significantly in operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Services Assures, with the CFO, the financial integrity and sustainability of the organization.
Supports the CFO in planning, accounting and reporting on the financial activities of the organization.
Prepares financial and operating analyses and reports for consideration by senior management, the Board of Directors, and internal and external stakeholders.
Strengthens and oversees CMMB’s fiscal, internal control, risk management and compliance accountabilities.
Supports the development, alignment and integration of financial accounting and reporting systems.
Provides internal problem resolution support and advisory services to include: enhanced business processes; quality technical support; and user-friendly tools & reporting templates.
Leads and manages direct reports, ensuring clear goals and accountabilities are established and achieved. Ensures individual performance and development needs are met.
Financial Reporting/Operational Services
Ensures that financial business processes, transactions, reporting and system standards are optimally maintained, issues are proactively addressed, and reports are prepared accurately and timely.
Ensures internal and external clients are provided demand-driven, operational support services that are responsive, pragmatic and timely.
Leads, coordinates and manages the annual audit and A-133 exercises, and annual preparation of Form 990.
Leads the quarterly and annual preparation of financial statements.
Acts as the custodian of the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
Effectively uses the MIP accounting software and Replicon time management system.

Prepares weekly US cash flow and monthly global cash analyses.
Advises on all financial aspects in donor agreements and grant proposals.
Coordinates the preparation of responses to queries from governments and third parties.
Financial Services
Manages the accounting, treasury & budget functions, to include: business processes, analyses and reports that are prepared accurately and timely, monitored regularly and supported by effective policies &
procedures.
Coordinates the dissemination of all related advisory, technical and reporting support.
Ensures availability of relevant policy and procedural guidelines and tools/templates.
Coordinates and monitors the work of Country Finance Managers.
Oversees the monthly accounts closing and consolidation, and approves all journal entries.
Monitors revenue & expense budgets on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Identifies and resolves funding constraints at grant/department/country levels.
Reviews and approves country requests for cash advances.
Monitors weekly cash flow.
Responsible for bank accounts, petty cash, checks and wills.
Develops and implements standardized budget template (budget clusters and lines).
Focal point for internal controls and exchange rate issues.

High competencies in financial planning and management, including US government grants and related pricing approaches and cost management.
Strong knowledge of financial accounting and planning, budgeting, cash management, risk management, and internal financial control systems. Proven experience in using Abilia (MIP) software preferred.
High competence in preparing financial statements and reporting for a globally diverse organization.
Strong knowledge of international financial reporting and accounting standards and proven experience in applying them to produce financial statements.

5 Required experience and demonstrated results
10+ years of progressive financial and accounting leadership and responsibility, preferably in the international, non-profit sector.
Hands-on knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and Statements on Auditing Standards
Solid experience in short-term and medium-term financial planning, budgeting and treasury operations
Solid understanding of non-profit accounting, budgeting and project management software reporting packages and systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Abilia MIP Software
Experience preferred in US Government grants and related NICRA accounting, budgeting, compliance and reporting requirements.
Must be comfortable working for a faith based organization. Education and/or certification
BA/MBA in accounting, business or finance required.
CPA or related professional accreditation preferred.
