ASSESSMENT TASK 2
Assessment Task 2: Work Health and Safety Project
Assessors are to use the checklists included in relation to this assessment task and included over the following pages. In relation to each activity, assessors should note the following:
Read through the assessment tasks provided to students.
The way in which the groups are formed and meetings held will be up to the Assessor. It will depend on the size of the class, time restrictions, also the structure of the classroom. Ideally the student should be able to present to a group of four for approximately 20 minutes – this would include providing the handouts, discussing them and asking for feedback on training opportunities.
Once the groups are formed, the assessor should advise students that this is their group in relation to the WHS Project. Students should have the email addresses of each of their group in order to provide an agenda to their group at least 3 days prior to the meeting. This is an assessable component. The assessor should also be included in the group email with the agenda.
A meeting room should be assigned for each student’s “meeting”. The assessor must also include some noticeable hazards (i.e. relating to the items in the checklist such as boxes in the way, cables in dangerous places) so that when the student is conducting the hazard inspection prior to the meeting, this can be noted down on the inspection checklist. The hazard inspection checklist is included at Appendix A and must be printed off and provided to all students.
The assessor should brief “team members” prior to the meeting about the type of training needs they might raise. These should be in relation to the handouts. The assessor should provide a range of different training needs for each group so that students are researching different training opportunities.
The email with the report of the meeting must be received by the assessor and team members no later than
3 days after the meeting.
Students must be assessed as competent on all activities in this task to be assessed as competent overall for the task. Re-assessment will be in accordance with re-assessment procedures.
