Tax Information
Since 2002, the Town of Davidson has contracted with Mecklenburg County to collect property taxes.
To pay property and vehicle taxes you must visit or contact the Mecklenburg County Tax Office at:

Civics 101
Learn more about our municipal government by attending Civics 101, a seven week citizen’s academy designed to educate, inform and entertain residents interested in learning more about the functions of

This free program is open to Davidson residents and residents of Davidson’s extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) who are 18 and older. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss departmental functions and operations with town

Trash Collection & Recycling
For in-town residents:

The pick-up schedule is as follows:
Wednesdays: Curbside pick-up of trash, yard debris and recycling
For a roll-out garbage cart or recycling bin or to report service problems, call Allied Waste at 704-393-6900.

Allied Waste does not pick up recycling bins at condominium complexes or apartments, but materials can be dropped off in the bins located behind the
Davidson Village Inn off Jackson and Depot Streets. Other Recycling and Garbage Options
There is a Mecklenburg County recycling center on Highway 21, south of Huntersville, that will accept other trash and recyclables, such as:
Cardboard Paper trash Construction materials Mattresses Paint cans Electronics Pesticides
The center is open Monday through Saturday from 7am - 4pm. You must
separate your trash and place it in large metal containers at the recycling center. Note: Recycled mulch is also available for pick up at the site for a very
reasonable cost. Get prices at the recycling center.

Schools/Colleges
Children living in Davidson are assigned to the public schools within the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
Children who reside in Davidson are assigned to Davidson Elementary, Bailey Middle and Hough High Schools.

Vehicle Registration
In the case of new residents, you must register your motor vehicle at the
expiration of the time granted by reciprocity agreement between North Carolina and your prior state of residence (usually 30 days) or when gainful employment is accepted, whichever occurs first.
You must present a valid North Carolina Driver's License or a North Carolina Identification Card to register a vehicle in North Carolina. Valid driver's licenses from other states may be accepted for vehicle registrations with documentation of the following:
Military active duty stationed in NC College enrollment in a NC school
Vehicle garaged in NC for a minimum of 6 months Court-ordered sale of a vehicle; Vehicle is co-owned Registration for a motor home
Documented medical condition

Voter Registration
If you have moved less than 30 days ago, you should vote at your old precinct. If you choose to vote at your new location, you will have to use a paper
provisional ballot; you will not be able to vote on the voting machine. If you moved more than 30 days ago but didn’t get a new voter registration card, and don’t know where to vote you must change your address with the Board of Elections. You may go to your new precinct to vote. Contact
the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections for more information.
