Procurement Outlook

Procurement activity in Centrelink is conducted at both the national and local level. Where possible, larger procurements are conducted in close cooperation with other Human Services Agencies to ensure the government achieves value for money outcomes across the portfolio.

This Annual Procurement Plan provides potential suppliers with an indication of likely procurements in the coming year and serves to give advanced knowledge of the Agency's supply requirements. The Agency continues to look for market place solutions that innovative, effective, contribute, to sustainable use of natural resources and represent value for money.

For 2007-08, Centrelink anticipates that the agency will approach the market with an open tender for 44 major procurements to be undertaken

several of which make use of advanced technologies. Centrelink has over 1,000 service delivery points Australia wide (in metropolitan, regional and remote locations) and has over 26,000 employees. Centrelink makes approximately $63.5 billion in payments to customers.

Strategic Initiatives Impacting on Procurement

In 2007-08 Centrelink will continue to deliver 'Welfare to Work' and 'Pathways to Work', support development and implementation of the Australian

Centrelink is a Commonwealth Government Statutory Agency in the Human Services portfolio whose purpose is to serve Australia by assisting people to become self-sufficient and supporting those in need.

Centrleink delivers a wide range of Commonwealth services to the Australian community using a targeted mix of customer focused delivery channels,
