Celebration of the Sacraments and Mass:

The Sacrament of Reconciliation may be celebrated by appointment and the penitent is to wear a mask or face covering and priest and penitent are to do physical distancing. The Sacrament of the Sick may be celebrated for the normal reasons, namely, serious illness, upcoming surgery or danger of death. Please call the office to make appointments.

The celebration of Baptisms, Matrimony and Funerals may be scheduled by calling the parish office. Attendance will be based on current guidelines from public officials.

Effective, June 1, we are holding public celebrations of the Mass based upon physical distancing of six feet and the capacity of the church. This limits us to 80 people for Mass. We have a link on the webpage to sign up to come to Mass. Ifyoudonothaveinternet access, please call the parish office to sign up.

The dispensation from the obligation to celebrate the Eucharist on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation remains in effect. We highly recommend that anyone with compromised health not attend public celebrations of Mass. Holy Trinity will continue to livestream Sunday Masses at 9:00 am on Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook account you can go to our website and click on the Facebook symbol at the top of the Home page. This will take you to the Holy Trinity Facebook page. You don’t need to have an account (if you are asked if you would like to set up an account, just click “Later”). If you cannot watch live at 9:00 am, you can view it later.

You are also encouraged to join Fr. Tom at 1:00 pm on Sundays to pray the Prayer for Protection and gospel reflection.

Please note the time change and that he will not be able to continue with the Wednesday live stream.

New Procedure for Signing Up for Mass:

We have implemented a slightly different process to sign up for Masses. We are able to accommodate up to 80 people, and will cap all our Masses at 80. We will no longer assign seats; instead, people will be able to choose their own seating ensuring they keep 6 feet between households, and the usher will assist in order to help us be able to accommodate 80 people and maintain the required distancing. Everyone stills needs to wear a mask or face covering.

You may sign up for one Sunday Mass (Saturday night or Sunday morning). You may sign up for as many Daily Masses as you want. Sign up for the next week, Saturday, 5:30 pm Mass through the next Saturday, 8:00 am Mass, will begin at 9:00 am on the Monday before that Saturday (e.g., sign up for Mass for Saturday, June 27, 5:30 pm – Saturday, July 4, 8:00 am begins Monday, June 22 at 9:00 am). Sign up closes for a Mass when we reach 80 participants for that Mass. You must sign up to participate at Mass so that we do not have to turn anyone away at the door.

How to sign up

(Registration for the upcoming week begins on the Monday prior to the weekend.):

1. Go to the parish website, www.holytrinitycheyenne.org, go to the “Mass Registration” tab or button to register. If you do not have internet access, please call the parish office.

2. Choose one Sunday Mass (Saturday evening or Sunday morning).

3. Choose as many Daily Masses as you want.

4. Be sure to push the “Submit” button.

5. Once 80 people have registered for a Mass, that Mass will close for registration.

6. Registration for each week, Saturday/Sunday through Friday, closes that Sunday night.

7. If you register online, you will receive an email confirmation.

8. For each week (Saturday/Sunday through Friday), you will need to register again.

Mass times: Monday & Tuesday 5:30 pm Saturday Evening 5:30 pm

Wednesday - Saturday 8:00 am Sunday Morning 7:00 , 9:00, 11:00 am

Kindergarten through 6

th

Grade:

Given the current restrictions we have decided that offering Summer Grade School Religious Education is not feasible. As we are unable to provide our regular summer RE program, Holy Trinity would like to provide some resources to help children and families continue to grow in their faith. On the website, under the Parish Life tab, find Summer Religious Education. Every week you will find new prayers, activities, videos, and coloring pages. If you do not have access to the internet, contact Maria in the office so resources can be prepared for you to pick up.

Children’s Bulletins:

We will not be printing

Children’s Bulletins for the time being to avoid the spread of COVID-19. They are available on our website under the Bulletins tab if you would like to print them at home for your children.

Thoughts of the Pastor…

To all the Dads, Happy Father’s Day! May you be blessed on this special day dedicated to you. We will have a special blessing for you at each Mass.

Courage. When I think of courage, I often imagine a soldier braving murderous enemy fire to rescue fallen comrades or a mother rushing into a burning building to rescue her baby. Courage is something heroic;

something beyond what the ordinary person is capable.

Fortitude. Fortitude is a synonym for courage. When I think of fortitude, I imagine strength, like the might of a fortress, which finds its power from what it is, from within itself.

In the Gospel of St. Matthew, Jesus says, “Fear no one.”

This is a call to fortitude – the strength and power that comes from within one’s self. The way to discover this fortitude is in what Jesus goes on to say, “Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid;

you are worth more than many sparrows.” When we realized how valued, how valuable, how loved, and how loveable we are, this empowers us to have fortitude.

Now this is not just fortitude for ourselves; but rather to give witness to Jesus Christ. Fear gets in the way. Fear that I have nothing to offer. Fear that I am inadequate.

Fear that I might make a mistake. Fear that I might be ridiculed. Fear that I might be opposed. Fear I might be rejected. Fear in whatever way I imagine. I overcome this fear with the fortitude of knowing that I am loved and loveable and I am valued and valuable, and if not by myself or others, by God. This means that we are to be messengers of the love of God, which calls us to love God with the totality of who we are and to love others as I love myself. I do this by seeing everyone as God sees them and me, and recognizing their and my own dignity.

So, have fortitude! Fear no one.

Father Tom

Next week, we will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which provides Pope Francis with the funds to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters. For more information, visit www.usccb.org/

peters-pence. Donations may be placed in the regular collection basket as you enter for Mass, or dropped off or mailed to the parish office.

What’s Happening Soon

Public celebration of Mass has resumed! Watch for information on other parish activities coming soon.

Information on Indulgence...

In this period of “fasting” from the sacraments, we are invited to draw from the other spiritual resources so that we can find the celebration of the Eucharist to be the source and summit of our Christian life. Daily meditation on the Sacred Scriptures, perhaps using the Daily Mass Readings, the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Novenas and other devotionals can assist during this time. See our parish website holytrinitycheyenne.org, and our diocesan website dioceseofcheyenne.org/covid19/ for resources. Each Sunday at 1:00 pm, Father Tom will do a Facebook Live recitation of the “Prayer for Protection in Tem of Pandemic,” by Pope Francis and offer a reflection.

By the authority of Pope Francis, the Apostolic Penitentiary has granted a plenary indulgence to:

 Those who are subject to quarantine in their homes or hospital by order of the health authority if they, with a spirit of

detachment from any sin, use media to watch the celebration of the Mass, pray the Rosary, pray the Way of the Cross, pray other forms of devotion, or if they pray the Creed, the Our Father and the Hail Mary, and offer this time of trial as an opportunity to grow in faith in God and charity toward others.

 Health care workers, family members and all those who, following the example of the Good Shepherd, care for the sick.

 Those who visit the church and pray before the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle, who read the Sacred Scriptures for at least half an hour, pray the Holy Rosary, pray the Way of the Cross, pray other forms of devotion, or if they pray the Creed, the Our Father and the Hail Mary, and offer this time of trial as an opportunity to grow in faith in God and charity toward others.

 For those who, at the point of death, are unable to receive the Sacrament of the Sick and Viaticum provided they are sorrowful for any sins and recite a few prayers (the Church makes up the usual conditions in this case).

To fully attain this indulgence, a person must intend, when again possible, to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, reception of Holy Communion, and a prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father.

An indulgence is the remission of the temporal punishment due to sins which have been forgiven. A plenary indulgence frees one from all temporal punishment; and a partial, from some. Sin, even when forgiven, has ongoing effects. These effects are addressed through acts of charity, piety, and penance. An analogy is found when someone lies, and is forgiven by the one deceived. The fact of the betrayal of trust, the lie, remains, and although forgiven, has ongoing effects. These ongoing effects are analogous to temporal punishment for sins.

Everyday Stewardship

Will You Say Yes? You find yourself in the difficult situation of being accused of blasphemy and confronting possible execution. Your crime is believing in Jesus Christ. The question is then asked of you, “Are you a Christian, a follower of the one named Jesus Christ?”

Your answer may very well dictate what happens to you next. What is your answer?

It is probably easier to answer this question when the scenario is make-believe. All of us want to believe that we would say yes to the question of belief in Jesus, but strange things happen when humans panic in the face of extreme stress. As we reflect on what we would say, there are those all over the world who are being asked that very same question. It is a question that was asked of many in the first centuries of the Church. Those who respond “yes” are considered martyrs and saints.

We might not usually think of all this in terms of good stewardship living. However, our faith is also a gift we have received from God to cultivate, grow, and share with others. The more interesting question than the one posed above is, “Would an accuser even think of asking you such a question?” Would you have cultivated, grown, and shared your faith enough that anyone would even consider you worthy of asking the question? They might assume you don’t know Jesus Christ at all. I don’t like conflict and do not seek out conflict, but I would rather someone ask the first question posed than assume there is no reason to confront me in the first place.

Thank you to all those who gave the gift of prayer. Your prayers unite with those of your sisters and brothers in Christ to bring about positive change throughout the world.

This year, in addition to its annual tithe to organizations that care for the vulnerable throughout the world, the Diocese of Cheyenne will ensure that 5% of Living and Giving in Christ 2020 gifts will be earmarked for COVID-19 relief efforts.

We encourage you to consider the tithe, giving 10%;

where 5% goes to the parish, 1% to the Living and Giving in Christ Appeal, and 4% to second collections and other charities.
