PICKS OF THE WEEK LEARN

WATCH

LISTEN

As the Cardinal-nephew of Pope Pius IV, Saint Charles Borromeo was one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in all of Rome.

Yet he chose the extraordinary challenge of reforming the enor- mous Archdiocese of Milan. Going from the pampered life of a Renaissance prince, and willingly spending himself in the service of his flock.

This film presents the reality of death and what will follow for every person: first the particular Judgment before God, then Heaven or Hell as our destination for all eternity. The Catholic teaching on Purgatory is also explained, giving examples from the Scriptures and philosophy.

Pregnant? Just had a baby? At St.

Thomas More (STM), we offer a 2-session course for all families who desire to pro- vide their child the best possible gift ever - BAPTISM! The next course will be Mon- day, November 15 & 22 from 6 pm - 8 pm. This is a hybrid class meaning you have the option to attend in person at STM, or virtually via ZOOM. By taking this November course, your child will be able to receive the Sacrament of Baptism at the next ceremony scheduled for Sunday, January 30 at 11 am Mass. If interested in attending or learning more about this awesome gift from God, please contact Trish Pabis at relformation@stmva.org.

Covering the Biblical evidence for the authority of the Pope, the doctrine of Purgatory, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints, the Sacrament of Confession, the Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist, and more, the remarkable set is an essential re- source for answering the various objections that Protestants makes to the Catholic Faith.

Feed Your Faith with….

Join us Mondays at 10:00 AM for Faith Matters as we have a roundtable discussion about Janet Schaeffler’s book “Let This Be the Time, Spiritual Essentials for Life’s Second Act” (available online). The second half of life offers many opportunities for growth, discovery, and new meanings. Janet Schaeffler helps you explore them with wisdom, prayer and a deep sense of appreciation for who you are and who you are still becoming.

With insights from experts—those on the journey and those who study it—she describes twelve needs of people in their maturing years, always mindful of each individual’s unique needs and realities. Contact the parish office for more information at info@stmva.org / 434-237-5911

Dear God, thank you for the example of the Saints. I desire to join in their company, worshiping you forever in Heaven. Please help me follow their footsteps, and yours, Jesus Christ. Please help me to conform myself to Your image, seeking Your will in all things, as the Saints did. Please help me to devote myself, and all that I do, to Your glory, and to the service of my neighbors. Amen.
