AEE PROFESSIONAL
CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
The Association of Energy Engineers administers a number of certification programs which enable professionals to receive recognition for their expertise in specialized areas of the energy field. All AEE certification programs require the meeting of specific educational and/or experience requirements, as well as the passing of an examination. Certification ap-plication fees are in addition to fees for associated preparatory seminars presented in this cat-alog. The certifications currently offered by AEE are described below.
CERTIFIED ENERGY
MANAGER
As AEE’s first and most widely recognized professional certification, the CEM credential is now used by many corporations and government agencies as a prerequisite in job descriptions for energy management related positions. Earning the right to put the ini-tials “CEM” behind your name gives you many advantages in advancing your career. AEE currently offers four preparatory seminars for those wishing to prepare for the CEM exam. (See pages 8, 10, 11, and 28.) Students and others who can pass the CEM exam, but do not meet other criteria for the CEM credential, may apply for Energy Manager in Training (EMIT) certification. For more information, visit www.aeecenter.org/certification.
CERTIFIED
ENERGY AUDITOR
AEE’s Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification identifies professionals as having the required knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the growing field of energy auditing. AEE’s CEA training seminars provide an excellent preparatory tool for the CEA exam. (See pages 13 and 29.)
TM
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
PRACTITIONER
The EEP program is designed to help educate and qualify new and recent entrants into the energy management field in best practices for improving energy efficiency. The pro-gram serves as a fundamental building block for additional professional development such as obtaining the CEM or BEP designations. AEE offers a preparatory seminar for those seeking certification and planning to sit for the EEP exam.(See pages 20 and 28.)
CERTIFIED CARBON & GHG
REDUCTION MANAGER
AEE’s Certified Carbon & GHG Reduction Manager (CRM) certification recognizes the expertise of professionals who have special knowledge in the area of facilitating organ-izations with the goal of becoming as “carbon neutral” as possible. AEE provides a preparatory course for those seeking certification and planning to sit for the CRM exam.
(See page 30.)
CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL
AEE’s Certified Sustainable Development Professional (CSDP) provides recognition for professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the sustainable develop-ment field, having demonstrated high levels of technical expertise in energy manage-ment, renewable energy, and environmental practices. AEE provides a refresher course for those preparing to sit for the CSDP examination. (See page 30.)
RENEWABLE ENERGY
PROFESSIONAL
The Renewable Energy Professional (REP) certification recognizes the expertise of professionals involved in the specification and application of renewable energy tech-nologies, assessment of renewable energy projects, and development of achievable sustainability goals for organizations. AEE’s REP training seminars provide an excel-lent resource for those preparing to sit for the REP exam. (See pages 16 and 30.)

ABOUT THE SEMINAR
This special 5-day seminar provides an in-depth, comprehensive learning and problem-solving forum for those who want a broader understanding of the latest energy cost reduc-tion techniques and strategies. The program begins by examining the basic fundamentals within all key areas of energy management. From there, the instructors systematically move to a “working level” knowledge of the specific principles and techniques needed to really get the job done. This approach has been specially designed to fulfill the needs of professionals who seek a broader and more detailed learning experience than can be pro-vided in AEE’s shorter courses. Following the morning’s instruction on day 5, the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) exam will be adminis-tered to those seminar participants who have applied and preregistered for the exam in advance. For information on registering for this optional exam and applying for certification, contact the Certification Administrator at (770) 447-5083, Ext. 318, or visit:
www.aeecenter.org/certification/cem
Note: Registering for the five-day seminar does not automatically register you for the CEM exam. An additional fee of $400 is required for certi-fication application and exam.
