The training described in this catalog is intended for Trane building owners and operators. All students must have approval from their local Trane office to attend classes. Upon

registration, an email will automatically be sent to your local Trane office requesting approval.

Trane has a policy of continuous product improvement; it reserves the right to change course design and/or content without notice. Trane reserves the right to reject any training course application.

Federal Government:

Orders for training courses by Federal Government employees should be made out to our Federal Government reseller, IMMIX/EC America, Inc. and paid for by credit card. Purchase Orders will only be accepted for amounts greater than $5000. Credit card statements for training will list IMMIX as the payee. Trane Education Center will email a confirmation letter to the email address you provide in your online profile. Your confirmation provides information for arranging hotel accommodations. If you don’t get an enrollment confirmation, you are probably either not enrolled in the class, or it has gone to your junk mailbox (some systems don’t recognize Trane Education Center as a valid sender). IACET "Authorized Provider":

Trane College of Building Automation has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the Internation-al Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). This accreditation Internation-allows awarding of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and/or Professional Development Units (PDUs) for completion of Trane Technical Training courses.

Enrollment Policy:

All courses are offered on a first registered first attend basis. If the class you prefer is filled, your name will be added to a wait list in case of a cancellation. All non-Trane students must be approved by their local Trane office prior to attending class.

Course Locations:

Courses are held in our St. Paul, MN headquarters and regional classes are held in the local Trane Sales office unless noted otherwise.

Hotel Information - St. Paul classes only:

Information needed for contacting BCD Travel and registering for our recommended hotel is provided in the confirmation e-mail. Students are responsible for hotel fees at check-out.

Hotel charges are at our corporate discount rate and include tax. To receive this discount on the cost of your hotel room, you must make room reservations through BCD Travel. We provide transportation between our training facility and the White Bear Country Inn in St. Paul, and back to the airport for departure. Students who make separate hotel arrangements are responsible for their own

transportation. Regional classes are given hotel recommendations only; no transportation is provided.

Online Enrollment Steps

1. Search for any course at www.trane.com/Commercial/

2. Click on “Products and Systems” - “Education and Training” - “Class Finder.” All College of Building

Automation courses are identified by the words “Factory Training” in the title. Select a course and click on the “Register” link.

3. Every person that wants to take a class needs their own account. If you already have one, you can enter your username and password on the webpage you’re directed to (Trane Education Center) and proceed by browsing our catalog and selecting the course you want to take. Otherwise, if you haven’t taken a class with us before you will need to create an account by clicking on the “New Customer? Register Here” button.

All enrollment is done through Trane Education Center.

How to Pay:

Indicate your means of payment when you enroll online via Trane Education Center. Payment can be made: 1.) By major credit card (preferred method)

2.) By purchase order if a Trane Commercial Account has been established (PO number must be entered when enrolling online)

3.) By check or money order made out to The Trane Company

Cancellation Policy:

You can cancel out of a course up to 14 days before the course start date without penalty. Any cancellation made within 14 days of the course start date is subject to full tuition cost; however, student substitutions are allowed.

Specific Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

Create and modify schedules/holiday and exceptions

Create, modify and plot graphs of trends

Respond, route and print alarms

Create, modify users and passwords of security

Create and modify basic graphics

Monitor chiller plant control

Learn how time-of-day, area and variable air systems work together through applications

Course Description

In this course, students will learn to perform common and advanced operations with their installed Tracer Summit system. This highly interactive basic course includes presentations and hands-on workshops where students prac-tice using the common applications of a Tracer Summit building management system and learn how to monitor and control building mechanical systems.

Note: This is a good course to take if you’re planning to take Tracer Summit 101.

Tracer Summit 101 is intended for Trane technicians and applied systems contractors.

Prerequisites

While not a required prerequisite, Tracer Summit System Operation is highly recommended prior to taking Tracer Summit 101.

There is pre-work associated with this class; all pre-work must be completed prior to coming to class. Students will be tested on this material the first day.

LonTalk Fundamentals eLearning

Course Description

The Tracer Summit installation course is intended for BAS personnel and Applied Systems Contractors who will be responsible for engineering, installing and commissioning Tracer Summit Projects. The skills taught in the installation workshops are intended for those who will install Tracer Summit hardware and configure applications.

Tracer Summit 102 is intended for Trane technicians and contractors who have successfully completed Tracer Summit 101 and have a solid working knowledge of those subjects.

Length: 4.5 Days

Schedule: Mon.-Thurs. 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Fri. 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Course Description

Students are introduced to the standard Tracer applications included with the Tracer Summit software through lecture and extensive hands-on workshops. In addition to the standard Tracer applications, the course also covers the custom programming language (CPL) used in Tracer Summit.

Program a constant volume air handler using the SCC profile

Create programs using debug or simulation (Online/ Offline)

Test TGP programs using debug or simulation (Online/Offline)

Utilize a Tracer MP580/581 to create a small building network

Integrate the Tracer MP580/581 into Tracer Summit

Students will set up, test and program the Tracer MP580/581 controller. This field-installed controller is suited for many building control applications like air handlers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers and heat exchangers.
