Mosby’s Nursing Skills

All you need to access and administer Mosby’s Nursing Skills is an Internet connection and a web browser, along with your user name and password.

This Administrator’s Guide will help you get started implementing Mosby’s Nursing Skills so you can prepare your staff for expert care.

Mosby's Nursing Skills Administration Home Page

Mosby’s Nursing Skills admin home page offers editing access to all the communications, skills, and learning management tools you need to effectively administer Mosby's Nursing Skills.

To get to the administration tools from the main home page click on the Admin tab in the upper left corner.

On the left side of the screen you will see the Skills Content Management box where you access any skill and customize it to meet your institution's needs.

Below that you'll see the Skills Management box. Within this box you can access features such as:

• Announcements • Tasks

• Checklist Grades • Task Progress • User Progress

The Access Management box also offers access to manage and create: • Users

• Groups

• Create New Administrator • Edit Admin Access

Skills Management

Edit Announcements

To add a new announcement click on Announcements and then on Add New Announcement.

A Word documentation tool allows you to compose any announcements with start and end dates. You may also edit announcements you have written.

Tasks

Click on Tasks.

This tool allows you to assign a particular skill to a specific group of users. This task will appear in the Tasks area on the user's Skills home page and in their My Tasks section.

• Click on Add New Task.

• Type in the desired Task Name. Enter the Start Date using the calendar function and also a Due Date for the skill.

• You will see the available skills listed that fall under the category you typed in the Task Name.

• Highlight the skill you want to assign and click on the right arrow key to enter it in the box.

• Scroll down to the Available Groups/Users box. Highlight the desired group or users and click on the right button.

• Scroll down to Facility/Department. Highlight the department you want assigned to complete this skill.

Checklist Grades

Click on Checklist Grades

This allows you to enter grades for users that have performed a skill while being assessed by a preceptor.

• Enter the first few letters of the learner’s name into the box and click FIND. • Select the appropriate learner and click Enter Grades

Select the appropriate skill to grade from the list, enter a grade and any comments and click Save.

Task Progress

Task Progress allows the administrator to track the completion of specific assigned tasks.

• Click on Task. You will see a dashboard view of all tasks within your scope. • Select a Task to review and click on its title.

• You see a list of all the users in that task and their individual performance to date.

• Select and click on an individual user and you see all of the skills assigned to the task and their performance on each.

User Progress

• Click on User Progress and you will see a dashboard view of all learners within your scope and progress on all tasks to date.

Access Management

Create a New Administrator

Click on Create a New Administrator

• Enter part of the new administrator's last name in the Users box. Click Find. • Select the user from the list displayed.

Edit Admin Access

Click on Edit Admin Access.

• To search for an administrator to manage, enter all or part of their last name in the Users box.

• Click Find to locate all administrators with a name matching the specification you provided.

• Click on the administrator you want to edit and click Edit. • Then click on any Permissions you want to grant and click Save.

• To manage Administrative Scope click on the Manage Scope button and add or delete facilities or departments as appropriate.

Users

Click on Users to add or edit information for individual users. To Edit a User:

• Enter all or part of their last name in the Users box.

• Click Find to locate all users with a name matching the specification you provided.

• Click on the user you want to edit and click Edit. • Then make any changes and click Save.

To Add a User:

• Click Add New User

Groups

Click on Groups to find and edit information for Groups or to create a new group To Edit a group

• Scroll to find the group name in the Groups box. • Click on the Group you want to edit and click Edit.

• To add users type in a few letters of their last name and click find. Then select the correct user from the list and use the arrows to move them to the group.

• To delete users from a group select the correct user from the list of names and use the arrows to remove them from the group.

Editing Skills Content

There are four ways you can search for skills to edit: • By using the search box to type in a particular skill. • Browsing using the alphabetical index.

• Searching for the skill within a specialty. • Searching for the skill within a category. To Edit a Skill

This will take you to the General screen where you can change the Skill Name, make it Active or Inactive, and include a patient Alert.

To make edits to any of the skill details, simply click on the appropriate icon at the top of the screen and use the text editing function that will allow you to make changes. Click Save when you are done editing.
