Undecided on a major?
Let Pace help you find yours.
College of Health Professions Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Lubin School of Business

Everyone Takes a Different Path
Part of the excitement of coming to a university like Pace is
discovering what really ignites your passion and intellect. At Pace, we welcome students who are still exploring their academic and professional options.
That’s why we have a special Advising Center for Exploring Majors (something you won’t find at all universities) that is committed to helping you explore your interests, skills, and goals so that you can feel confident in your choice of major. And with more than 100 different majors to choose from, you can enter Pace confident that when you do decide upon your academic and career path, there will be a major to match your interest.
Our advisers will help you chart your course for success from day one: from the best major for you, to a successful college experience, to your first day on the job.
Major Myths
If you’re applying for college but haven’t decided upon a major, then you’re like most students who will make up the next freshman class! Did you know that…
n Not everyone knows what to major in—75% of students who enter
college with a declared major will change their mind at least once.
n Not all careers require specific majors—In most cases, there is not
one specific major required to enter a career field. Employers look for well-rounded individuals with strong skills and experience.
n A major isn’t a lifetime commitment—A bachelor’s degree from a
high-quality university shows employers that you have the writing and analytical skills that are relevant to a wide range of areas.
n You can still graduate on time—Undecided students can take
courses from the core curriculum while researching new fields and still graduate in four years.
Just wrapping up her sophomore year, { Kristie Dash ’14, Communications } already has more experience than many professionals with coveted internships at Harper’s Bazaar, Fashion Week, NBC’s Peacock Productions, Celebuzz, E! News, and Teen Vogue. “When I came here I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew that communication is a skill that is necessary for any job,” says Kristie.“ Through my internship opportunities— that’s really how I’m figuring out what I want to do with my career.”
Superior Professional Education
Discovering your major can happen on the job as
well as in the classroom.
With average class sizes of only 18 students and faculty who bring their professional skills and connections into the classroom, at Pace, you’ll receive the individual attention, quality academics, and real-world skills you need to succeed in the workplace. Plus our highly respected internship program—the largest in the New York Metropolitan Area—opens the doors to incredible work opportunities that can start a soon as your freshman year. With the world’s top companies right at your doorstep, faculty mentoring, and career services advisement from day one, just imagine the resume you’ll build in four years.

Take Advantage of Everything New York
Has to Offer
With two New York campuses, Pace students can take advantage of all the metropolitan area has to offer. Pace’s New York City Campus is located in the heart of the Financial District, while Pace Westchester is just a short train ride away. Our professors bring real-world experience from Fortune 500 companies and internationally-recognized organizations in our backyard. Whether you’re looking for an urban setting or a traditional college campus, Pace gives you access to internships at the country’s most prestigious
companies, cultural and athletic events, and a tight-knit community. And with more than 60 clubs, our students can find likeminded people to pursue their interests and make the most of our stellar locations.
Ryan Kibel ’13, Hospitality Management
For Ryan, it’s all about hospitality. That’s why he chose a school that practices what it teaches—making students feel welcome, introducing them to opportunities, and helping them navigate both college life and careers. “I chose Pace for its location. It’s a small community within the big city, so it was not incredibly overwhelming. One thing I love about the hospitality department is that it is really small so students try to help each other out. The professors at Pace also have many years of experience in the field and many connections. Through these connections, I was able to get a job at a hotel in Midtown!”
Julie Gill ’12, Computer Science
Julie was looking for a school that was large enough for her to spread her wings, but still small enough to feel like home.
“I was looking for a college where I wouldn’t get lost in the masses—where I would know my professors, know my classmates, and have a memorable experience. I wanted a college where I would be able to take courses outside of my major and explore various interests. I wanted a school where I could have jobs and internships during my education and have a chance to test out life in the real world before graduating. I felt instantly at home and knew that Pace was the place for me.”
Hatsue Masuyama ’14, Childhood Education and English
Inspired to become a teacher after using therapeutic horseback riding to work with people with disabilities, Hatsue was looking for a school that would help her improve herself and the world.
“Teaching is a way I can live my life fulfilled by living for the sake of others. Pace allows education majors to have fieldwork experience earlier than many other universities, and it is also one of a few schools that uses the Avatar TeachLivE™ Lab where education majors can practice their
classroom skills in a realistic simulation.”
Andrew Dalessio ’14, Nursing
For Andrew, it was the hands-on experience that made the difference. After completing gerontological rotations at Bethel Health Care and Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, he’s on to medical surgical and maternity clinicals, and one step closer to saving lives as an emergency room nurse.
“There is nothing like being able to apply what you’ve learned in class to help patients. Even if all I can do is comfort a patient in a time of distress, my job as nurse is successful.”
