Loading Options for Edentulous

“Accelerated Placement and

Patients: When to Hit the Gas and

When to Hit the Brakes”

Accelerated placement of implants has

become more commonplace as a result of

newer micro-roughened surfaces and the

publication of long-term studies on

“To Pull or Not to Pull:

Current Concepts on

Periapical Surgery vs. Implant

Replacement”

This course will describe the indications and contraindications,

for performing or referring a patient for Apical Surgery. With the

correct history, radiographic and clinical evaluation, the decision

to perform an Apicoectomy, will be weighed against further

evaluation, a re-treatment option, or extraction and

replacement with an implant (immediate or delayed). Then a

decision is more accurately made as to whether an Implant or a

Fixed Bridge (Fixed Partial Prosthesis), a Removable Prosthesis

(Fixed or Transitional Temporary Prosthesis), or doing nothing

would be the final treatment plan offered to the patient. This

specific workup (check list) is frequently overlooked, leading to

a less than ideal outcome. This course discusses and reviews all

the options when a tooth is ailing or failing.

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

1) Learn the radiographic technique to use when evaluating a

tooth for a fracture.

2) List the seven step workup consisting of procedures and tests

that should be used when performing or referring a patient for an

apicoectomy.

3) Understand the principles of GBR and for the use of membranes.

4) Recognize that the location of a fistula is a key critical diagnostic

indicator for the final prognosis.

5) Identify the sings to differentiate between an endo/perio vs.

perio/endo lesions and to understand the difference as it related

to the final prognosis.

“Veneer Methodology –

From Preparation to

Provisionalization:

The Keys to Success”

experience to

prepare selected teeth for cosmetic

veneers. A clear, concise method will be

presented as to how to best contour the teeth

for the desired esthetic result. Depth cuts,

Too many dentists just wing it when it comes to

anterior direct bonding. This results in

decreased restoration longevity and poor

cosmetic results. This course lays out a clearly

defined

protocol for anterior direct restorations.

We will review materials, matrices, bonding

agents, composites and technique so that a

predictable long lasting result can be achieved,

creating happy referring patients.

Course Objectives:

• Whether restoring one tooth or six, learn how

to plan an anterior direct bonding case

• Learn why setting up the right anterior matrix,

the right way, makes a difference

• Learn why having a consistent chairside

protocol for direct anterior restorations makes

life easier
