AUCKLAND PRE-PROGRAM OPTION

February 5 to 9, 2015

Known as the “City of Sails” for its longstanding love affair with boating and the sea, Auckland has a splendid waterfront setting ringed by more than 40 extinct volcanoes. The city is home to the world’s largest Polynesian population and thus a capital of South Paci¿c history and culture. Immerse yourself in this lively modern city and discover the legacy of the native Maori people.

Enjoy two nights in the scenic port of Auckland prior to your arrival in Queenstown. Experience the easygoing spirit of the

Auklanders on a scenic city tour and learn more about the city’s rich history at the

neoclassical Auckland War Memorial Museum. Admire the dazzling city skyline on a cruise around Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour. Accommodations are in the deluxe

STAMFORD PLAZA HOTEL, located in the heart

The morning tour of Auckland begins with a visit to Bastion Point offering stunning views of Waitemata Harbour, the Auckland skyline and the scenic surrounding area. Then visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum. One of New Zealand’s preeminent repositories of Maori historical and cultural artifacts, this revered institution traces New Zealand’s journey as a nation from its roots. Sail in style and comfort aboard one of the highly esteemed vessels of the Pride of Auckland Àeet and enjoy exceptional views of one of the world’s most spectacular harbors, where innumerable spinnakers carve the water in the silhouette of Mount Victoria’s emerging peak.

POST-PROGRAM OPTION

February 21 to 23, 2015

Complement your Australian experience with one night in the vibrant city of Cairns and a visit to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural park, a showcase of the living history of the indigenous people of the rainforest. Continue to Australia’s Outback to see the legendary Ayers Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and discover the mesmerizing scale and colors of the world’s greatest monolith, and the Olgas, a nearby group of 36 steep-sided monoliths. Known by the Aborigines as Uluru and Kata-Tjuta respectively, these sacred places hold a sense of spellbinding awe for locals and visitors alike. Walk alongside these mysterious geological

wonders, see their ancient cave paintings and watch at sunrise and sunset as the light changes the face of these magni¿cent natural monuments from blue and purple hues to a ¿ery red. Accommodations for one night are in the deluxe SHANGRI-LA HOTEL located in

This morning visit Tjapukai Cultural Park, a showcase of thousands-of-years-old Aboriginal culture. Enjoy a performance of Aboriginal music and dance, admire traditional artwork, listen to the tales of ancient legends and sample typical bush cuisine.

The afternoon and evening are free for individual pursuits in the cosmopolitan city of Cairns.

CAIRNS/AYERS ROCK

Sunday, February 22

Transfer to Cairns Airport this morning and Ày to Ayers Rock, located in the desert plains of Australia’s untamed outback. Upon arrival, check into the Five-Star SAILSINTHE DESERT HOTEL.

This afternoon, explore the sacred Aboriginal site of Ayers Rock. Over two miles in diameter and over 1000 feet high, the massive size of legendary Ayers Rock is even more astounding

when it is considered that about two-thirds of it is still underground. Continue to the starkly beautiful Olgas, walk among the towering rock formations and hear about the ecology of this unique desert region. Late in the afternoon, watch a spectacular natural phenomenon from the best viewing point in the park as sunset makes these ancient rocks glow in colors ranging from grey, brown and blue, to pink, mauve and red.

AYERS ROCK/U.S.

Monday, February 23

Arrive before dawn to see the morning sun illuminate Ayers Rock in an unforgettable display of light and color before exploring the base of this natural wonder. Aboriginal rock art adorns the sides, depicting the monolith’s deep religious signi¿cance to their culture. View ancient caves ¿lled with Aboriginal paintings left from a bygone era and learn about local Aboriginal legends. Visit the Maruku Arts and Crafts Center and then return to the hotel for breakfast. Transfer to the airport to board your return Àight to Sydney.

In the event you have to cancel your reservation, cancellation policies as outlined in your travel program brochure apply. These policies are strictly enforced.

Cancellations for all or any part of the trip will not be effective until they are received in writing in the of¿ces

of Gohagan Company.

A minimum of 20 participants is required in order for the Auckland Pre-Program Option and 15

participants on the Cairns/Ayers Rock Post-Program Option to operate. If less than the minimum number of participants, Gohagan & Company will make every effort to operate the Pre- or Post-Program Option; however, an experienced local guide will accompany the group as Travel Director.
