Message from

Clay Meininger, PGA, TCC President & COO

W

hat a great month March was. So many familiar faces coming back out to the Club and once again enjoying everything we have to offer. It is always a delight to have you out to enjoy some great food and drink. April doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

We have several events coming up, that there will be something for everyone. Starting off with our kid’s egg hunt on the 3rd followed by Easter brunch on the 4th. This month’s cooking class will be on April 14th and our focus will be honey. We order our honey from right here in Kansas from Rees Fruit Farm. It is sure to be a lot of fun. April 21st will be our Administrative Professionals Day Buffet. We will be serving a wonderful buffet including grilled salmon, stuffed chicken and so much more.

I will have a new menu very soon and wanted to take a moment to share my thought process when it comes to a new menu. As I come up with new menus it becomes increasingly harder to come up with a final draft. Not because of the lack of creativity. When I talk to our members I learn what you love on the menu and so when it comes to deciding what comes off the menu and what stays, it truly is a struggle because I want too keep everyone happy with the choices we offer. With this being said, we will always make every effort to keep you happy and feeling full after every dining experience. One reason we do weekly features as opposed to monthly is to keep things from becoming boring! Once again thank for your continuous support.

arch Madness is happening and we will crown Men’s and Women’s NCAA Basketball National Champions very soon. Who would have thought 1 year ago it would have taken this long to get some sense of normalcy back in our lives? After missing this great event last year, the culmination of the basketball season is a sign that some sense of order is back in the world. Fortunately, the pandemic had no effect on turf health and its growing schedule, and as we head into April things are shaping up nicely here at your club.

The previously dormant zoysia tees and fairways are waking up at this time and will be getting the first mowing of the year quite soon. This is always a welcome sight as this signifies the changing of colors here at TCC. Straw colored turf will be replaced with thriving green hues, and the landscape beds are not far from getting packed with a myriad of fresh plants that will provide a nice backdrop to your round.

Greens aerification along with the subsequent cleanup and recovery is ongoing, and with good weather and fertility, we expect the greens to be rolling smoothly very soon. We all know this process is not an ideal practice as it pertains to your golf game, but the

minimal time for disruption is well worth it as the season wears on. Thanks, as always for your patience.

We will once again utilize our ENTER and EXIT posts on the course this year to aid you as you play on exactly where to avoid driving your cart. Simply enter and exit each fairway at some point between these two posts and we can avoid unnecessary cart damage in high traffic areas. Also, you will see smaller blocks, as in the picture, in certain areas to supplement the ENTER and EXIT post guidelines. And as always, now that the fairways are beginning to grow, please limit your cart traffic in the rough. All of these measures are for your convenience and benefit in keeping your club in the best possible condition as we head through the season. Of course, in the spirit of 2020-21, these are merely recommendations, not mandates, but your fellow member will appreciate your adherence.

That’s all for now, let’s have a great season here at your club, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to flag me down.
