Assured Office
Assured Office
allows users to digitally sign .pdf files from within Adobe Acrobat
Exchange. It adds value to the signature annotation included within Acrobat
Exchange providing additional features. These features enable users to sign pdf
documents utilizing PKI based digital signature technology. Users can then
sign
and
verify
pdf documents from within the application.
For organizations that are migrating from paper based to on-line processes, Assured Office helps them achieve this transition quickly, easily and securely by applying legally binding digital signature technology to their business processes. Assured Office provides trust and security for online transactions through its unique security architecture. This security architecture integrates seamlessly with Adobe Acrobat Exchange allowing users to digitally sign pdf documents from within the application using PKI based digital signatures -providing digitally signed documents with legal recognition. E-Business transactions involve the transfer of sensitive information and files
across the Internet, making it essential to provide trust and security for this information. The Adobe pdf format for files has fast become the most common tool for creation of these high value documents making it necessary for companies to have the capability to sign pdf files using PKI based digital signatures. On June 30th of 2000, President Clinton signed the e-sign bill legalizing the use of digital signatures, thereby enabling organizations to readily adopt this key technology and transition their business processes from paper-based to electronic based.

Signing / Encryption Wizard
Assured Office provides various Digital Signature features in a Wizard format. This guides the users through the complex world of digital signatures without compromising security or trust. Organizations can quickly migrate to the new business world without any specialized training of their personnel.
Signing / Encryption User Profiles
Users can create individual profiles for signing or encryption operations. Whenever they need to perform routine operations, they can access these profiles, which store all their settings and preferences. This helps them convert repetitive tasks into "one-click" processes.
Signature Bitmap insertion
Assured Office includes a signature bitmap within the signed document. This bitmap includes signature information like the date and time of signing, reason for signing and location at which the file was signed. During verification of documents users can optionally include a graphical representation of their
handwritten signatures within the Signature Block.
Multiple Signing
Assured Office enables multiple users to sign the same pdf file. Multiple users can sign the same data, and multiple signatures can be sequenced within the signing process through an approval management process. All signatures within the signed pdf file can be individually verified.
PKI Independence
Assured Office supports various PKI infrastructures; specifically the MS-Crypto API, the Netscape Security framework and Entrust PKI. It supports any X.509 digital certificate, and works seamlessly with certificates issued by VeriSign, Baltimore, Keon etc.

Assured Office
How it works
Signing a file
Assured Office allows users to digitally sign pdf files using PKI based digital signatures. Users can click the signature annotation tool to sign a pdf file. Selecting the E-Lock Assured Office signatures option will launch the Signing Wizard that guides users through the entire signing process in easy to follow steps. Once the document is successful signed, Assured Office inserts a signature bitmap that includes various signature details, such as the date and time of signing, reason for signing, and location at which the file was signed.
Assured Office allows you to verify pdf files signed using Assured Office. Assured Office automatically initiates the verification process when you open a signed pdf file. The certificate used to sign the file is verified and verification results displayed accordingly. Users can also choose to validate the certificate online for real time validation status of the certificate. When multiple signatures occur in the signing process, Assured Office displays a list of all the certificates used to sign the pdf file. Users can then select each certificate and validate it individually. Verification results for each certificate will be displayed accordingly.
