EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: In the event of an emergency, please dial “0” for the Hotel Operator to assist you in all Emergency situations. Additionally our hotel staff is certified in First Aid, CPR and AED through the American Red Cross.
FIRE LIFE SAFETY: ADA strobe lights, audible alarms, pull-stations and a public address system are
incorporated within the entire structure of the hotel. The Houston Fire Department (Fire Marshal’s Office) requires an annual inspection of all emergency fire related components. The Royal Sonesta Houston Hotel exceeds the standard by conducting two independent inspections per year by a “State Certified Company”.
When an alarm is activated, one floor above and one below the activation floor will also alarm.
AED: An Automatic External Deliberator (Phillips) is located behind the front desk for cardiac related emergencies. EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM: At the Royal Sonesta Hotel, safety training is directed by our “Certified Lodging Security Director” and support staff as well as the Manager on Duty. Our “Trained Emergency Response Team” responds to all types of emergency situations in order to better assist any guest.
PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM: Each guest room and all public areas are enunciated by the Public Address System. Please listen for any announcements over this system during emergency situations, specifically, when an alarm has been activated.
EMERGENCY EXITS: There are two pressurized fire exit stairwells located at each end of the guest room corridors. Stairway “A” is located at the corridor near the lower numbered rooms. Stairway “B” is located at the end of corridor near the higher numbered rooms. There are a total of three fire extinguishers located in recessed cabinets on each guest room floor. For your safety, do not use elevators for any fire related emergency.
ASSEMBLY AREA: If an evacuation is eminent for our guests, please proceed out the nearest and safety emergency exit which leads to the ground floor. Proceed to the grassy knoll by the cab stand by the Tenaris
building. We will assemble there during all emergency evacuations for “role call” to ensure everyone is accounted for and provide updates as received.
EMERGENCY GENERATOR: Our Emergency Generator is located on the seventh floor of the parking garage and is powered by diesel fuel. The generator is functional automatically upon power failure and will operate indefinitely after refueling. The generator provides power and adequate lighting to our systems, egress corridors, emergency stairwell exits, life safety systems, and elevators.
ADA: Our facility is 100% fully compliant (sidewalks, curbs, entrances and guest rooms) with all federal, state and local codes and guidelines. We have (13) guest rooms designed for the mobility impaired along with (13) parking spaces that are van-accessible with guest room ADA kits available upon request.
GUEST ROOM KEY SYSTEM: We have recently installing the (state of art) “Safelok” key system to every guest room door.
CERTIFICATIONS: Our property has been reviewed and approved by the United States Secret Service and the State Department as a ‘Safe Haven’ for Presidents, Diplomats and Heads of State.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Electrical Adaptors: The hotel will provide electrical plug adaptors upon request.
Safe Deposit Boxes: The hotel provides safe deposit boxes in a secure monitored area behind the front desk. In-Room Safes: Each guest room is equipped with one or more in-room safe that will hold and charge most lap-top computers.
Receiving: Clearance for our covered receiving area is a maximum of twelve feet high. An open area with unlimited high is also available.
Elevators:
The hotel has four newly rebuilt guest elevators with a weight limit of 2500 lb each.
Two service elevators with a weight limit of 3500 pounds which ascend from the basement level to the twenty-third floor.
One Banquet elevator with a weight limit of 5000 pounds which travels from the basement to the fifth level.
One kitchen elevator with a weight limit of 4000 pounds which ascends from the lobby to the basement.
All elevators may be operated in “independent mode”.
