Definition of Research

€ Creative work undertaken on a

systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, including

knowledge of humanity, culture and society, and the use of this stock of

knowledge to devise new applications1

SUBMIT all documentation, including hard copy of publication and evidence requirements for verification, together with the signed coversheet and *checklist (where required) to your School/Centre/Faculty Research Data

Collection Coordinator (RDCC) for data entry into RM

COMPLETE the relevant coversheet for each category and attach hard copy documentation where required. Please note: HERDC-eligible categories A1, B1, C1, and E1 also require a verification checklist* to be

signed by the School/Centre/Faculty Academic Auditor

CHECK what verification is needed to correctly categorise your research activities

GATHER your research activities for 2010 (publications and other outputs, research projects)

Faculty Process

Each Faculty is responsible for ensuring the following is completed within the timelines set by Research Services

• Academic audit of publication (HERDC only) • Data entry into RM

• Level 1 and 2 Verification is completed in RM Publications Module • Research Collection forwarded to Research Services

Research Services

• Checks data in RM

• Follows up missing / erroneous data

• Completes Verification Level 3 details in RM

Each researcher provides their completed research collection (coversheets and hard-copy verification documents) to their School or Faculty.

31 March 2011 Final date for researchers to provide their HERDC eligible publications and ERA non-traditional outputs to their School or Faculty

1 April – 13 May 2011 Each Faculty ensures the research collection is entered into RM, audited by an academic and verified at Faculty level (Level 1 and 2 verification).

13 May 2011 Research Collection due at Research Services (Melbourne) following completion of Faculty processes. 14 May – 17 June

2011

Research Services checks data quality and integrity, resolves any categorisation issues and prepares HERDC return for submission (Level 3 verification)
