Student Success Programs and Courses

There are certain enrollment criteria for many of these courses and programs, so we recommend that you speak with your advisor to determine those that are most appropriate for you. Some courses have identifying codes which appear after the titles on this page and in the course section number as you search the course schedule. When searching for a class, there are certain codes that will be helpful to you. These codes are listed in the Section number of the course and their definitions appear below:

(A) or (B) Accelerated Courses

Accelerated courses provide students the opportunity to complete courses in less than a full fourteen-week semester, often allowing completion of two sequential courses in the same semester. These courses provide the flexibility to begin college at various times during the year. However, to achieve this, the pace and intensity of these courses are increased.

(A) Means the course runs for six weeks and starts at the beginning of the semester.

(B) Means the course runs for six weeks and starts mid-way through the semester.

(BC) Bundled Courses

A pair or group of courses that must be taken together in the same semester. Faculty work closely with students and each other in a supportive environment increasing the opportunity for success.

(CC) College Cohorts

These are intensive, highly collaborative, full-time programs designed for maximum results. In one semester, you can discover new skills and use new techniques to learn more easily, study better, and balance your personal responsibilities while completing a full-time course load. This is a unique experience designed to help you build a foundation of skills that provide the maximum opportunity for continued college success.

(H) Classroom/Internet Course (Hybrid)

A Hybrid Course is one in which you are expected to attend an in-person class a number of designated times and also complete a designated amount of online work. The configuration of these courses varies, so check the semester schedule for more specific information.

(I) Individualized Courses

Individualized courses are those in which students work at their own pace but under the direction of the course instructor. Students use the course textbook, computer tutorials, and / or video clips to achieve each learning objective. The advantage of this style is that students take tests only when they are ready for them. Students may move to the next level of the course in the same semester if sufficient progress is made. If more time is needed, students may take two semesters to complete the original course.

(S) Supported Instruction

Supported instruction is an academic enrichment program in which students attend a traditional classroom section and then have an opportunity to receive an hour of additional support in the specific subject area. Students seeking a higher level of support in a particular subject area will have a greater opportunity for success in courses with a Supported Instruction component.
