DOCUMENT NUMBERING
PROCEDURE UEC-QHS-Q10-PR-??
1.0 GENERAL
This document covers the numbering system for procedures, specifications and drawings and the coding for lines, equipment, and instruments to be applied during the execution of the Project.
The purpose of this procedure is also to define the format to be used for the preparation of project specifications and drawings.
2.0 DEFINITIONS
COMPANY : shall mean UNAOIL Client
CONTRACTOR : shall mean UNA Oil, the engineering, procurement and construction CONTRACTOR
Vendor : shall mean the supplier of equipment/materials or SUB-CONTRACTOR
CONSULTANT : UNA Oil appointed Engineering CONSULTANT
Design Documents : Calculations, Drawings, Diagrams, Data Sheets, Specifications and other related deliverables for construction and procurement
3.0 DOCUMENT NUMBERING
All project drawings and documents prepared by CONTRACTOR will be identified with a unique number following the proposed numbering system.
The number will be registered in CONTRACTOR EDMS (Electronic Document Management System) named CONJECT.
4.0 NUMBERING HIERARCHY
4.1
Block 1 - Documents and Drawings Series
All the document/drawing serial number will have first block as unique project code (e.g. 1875, 2611 etc.)
4.2
Block 2 – Originator
All the document/drawing serial number will have second block as three letters abbreviation for to identify the originator of the document. (Originator could be different discipline / department within
PROCEDURE
CONTRACTOR organization or different vendors)
4.3
Block 3 – Area identifier
All the document/drawing serial number will have third block as Area identifier. This three letter abbreviation will be essential to differentiate and identify the document for individual site (e.g. Rumeila, Tuba, Zubair etc.)
4.4
Block 4 – Asset Type Identifier
All the document/drawing serial number will have fourth block as Asset Type identifier. This three letter abbreviation will be based on the type of the item e.g. equipment (tank, vessel, compressor, pump, motor, valve etc.)
4.5
Block 5 – Discipline Identifier
All the document/drawing serial number will have fifth block as Discipline identifier. This three letter abbreviation will be based on the discipline e.g. Process, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Fabrication, Administration etc.
4.6
Block 6 – Document Type Identifier
All the document/drawing serial number will have sixth block as document type identifier. This three letter abbreviation will be based on the type of the document e.g. calculation, drawing, data sheet, Technical Bid Evaluation, Material Take Off etc.
4.7
Block 7 – Revision Status
All the document/drawing serial number will have seventh block as document revision status. This will indicate present status of the document i.e. A internal review, B approval, 0 -construction etc.

4.8
Drawings and Documents Numbering Hierarchy Example
2611 – UEC – LZB – ETR – EL – CAL - A1
Project No. Originator Area Asset Type Discipline (Electrical) Document Type Revision No.
CAD file names/numbers shall be identified on the drawing outside of the drawing title block but within the drawing border in the bottom right hand corner.
4.9
Multiple Page Numbering
Sheet number shall be used for any document which comprises of more than one sheet, for example, schedules, loop diagrams, isometrics, etc. Drawings interrelated by match-lines e.g. piping layouts etc shall also be allotted sheet number.
4.10
Project Specification
CONTRACTOR amalgamates variations contained in the ADDENDA produced by FEED Engineer and creates new Specifications.
In these cases, Specification numbers will also be preceded by the same hierarchy as explained above, but prefix by client Project Number.
PROCEDURE 4.11
Revision Numbering
Alphabetical Indexes A, B, C….. shall be used for documents issued in their preliminary stage:
IFR: Issued for Internal Review
ICR: Issued for Client Review
Numerical Indexes 0, 1, 2, 3 …. Shall be used for documents issued:
IFA: Issued for Approval
IFI: Issued for Information
IFE: Issued for Enquiry
IFP: Issued for Purchase
IFC: Issued for Construction
5.0 TITLE BLOCK AND HEADINGS FOR DOCUMENTS
5.1
Datasheet Cover
The model shown in the Attachment 1 will be used for each datasheet issued by CONTRACTOR.
5.2
Drawings
The label shown in the Attachment 2 will be put on each drawing issued by CONTRACTOR.
CAD file names/numbers will be added to the drawings outside of the drawing title block (see the attachment 3).
5.3
