Supermicro SuperDoctor® 5 (SD5) Dashboard
T
he Supermicro SuperDoctor® 5 (SD5) utility monitors the system health of hardware and operating system services from the target nodes in real-time and provides alerts to administrators on the availability of systems in datacenters. The 5th generation version builds on top of SDII and SDIII, which have been supporting customers across the globe for the last 15 years and provides support for industry standard Nagios and Microsoft SCOM monitoring frameworks. SD5 provides system information such as the serial numbers of the components, sends alerts by e-mail or SNMP traps and provides user interface support through CLI and web interfaces. For managing multiple nodes at a time, SD5 can be integrated with Supermicro SD5 Management Server (beta) installed on management servers to control power on/off for managed nodes remotely, reset chassis intrusions, and update SD5 on each target node. Additionally it can also support remote console redirection.Server Management Utilities
SPM
: Supermicro Power Manager
T
he Supermicro Power Manager (SPM) uses IPMI interfaces and Intel Node Manager 2.0 features to monitor CPU/memory/ system power usage, and to remotely control power consumption. It controls the power consumption of systems by policy-based administration. By leveraging Intel's Data Center Manager technology, SPM enables administrators to configure policies by data center, room, row, rack, target machine, or logical group defined by the administrator. Policies can be triggered by power or temperature thresholds and also by time of day.Capabilities of Intel Node Manager Technology 1.5
(Supermicro X8)
• Report system-level power consumption
• Limit power via policies defined by the IT administrator at the system, rack, row, and room level using P and T-State controls
• Trigger and time-based policies
• Up to 16 policies (stored in firmware) per system
Capabilities of Intel Node Manager Technology 2.0
(Supermicro X9)
In addition to the features found in Node Manager 1.5, there are additional controls and sensors in the newer Supermicro X9 platforms.
• Runtime Average Power Limiting (RAPL) to implement power control in CPU & memory
• Report inlet temperature per server
• CPU Domain Power monitoring and limiting
• Memory Domain Power monitoring and limiting
• Dynamic Core Allocation (requires ACPI 4.0 compliant OS) SPM - Manage power across multiple clusters

SUM
: Supermicro Update Manager
SCM
: Supermicro Command Manager
T
he Supermicro Update Manager (SUM) remotely updates the BIOS and system settings of SMCI X9/X10 generation based machines through OOB (Out-Of-Band) communication channels, i.e. communication through the BMC/IPMI interface. Users can remotely edit system BIOS settings from human-readable text files and use this utility to configure the target machine’s system BIOS configuration from such a text file. BIOS image and settings update operation is independent of system OS on the target machine and can be executed before a system OS is installed.T
he Supermicro Command Manager (SCM) is a parallel execution framework under Linux, which allows system administrators to incorporate Linux commands and execute them in parallel on multiple servers. SCM has two components: the server component to be installed on the management server and an agent installed on target nodes. Through SCM agents and the management server, administrators can execute commands on target operating systems by nodes or by groups. SCM is designed to assist in integration with third party utilities and customization ofmanagement infrastructure. The current version of SCM integrates Supermicro's In-band BIOS and IPMI flash utilities.
